Default How are people attaching these things?

Those paper accordian folded medallions/flowers.

Here's what I'm talking about: How do they do it?

I'm seeing them everywhere, and love the look they add to any project, but I've had zero success in attaching them and having them still be attached the next day. What is the secret?

I have success with a few different things.. One is Crystal Effects., the other is my miniattacher by Tim Holtz.. I staple and then put the button or embellishment in the center. Also the strong glue dots.

I've used glue dots with success, also my mini glue gun, which is what I've used to put them together in the first place.

However, after the "new" wore off, I think I've decided yes, they are appealing....but a lot of trouble to make, and the cards with them cannot be mailed without using a box or hand delivered.

So I probably won't be using them too much.

Thanks so much for the help ladies!

I have another question now too . . . is there a tutorial somewhere that shows how these are made? It's pretty simple, do the acordian fold, but I'm curious what's going on in the centers. For the ones that I've made, I've been punching holes in the inside circle and threading a string through and tying it off to help it hold it's shape.

Is there something easier that wll accomplish this?

I use hot glue to hold the centers together. I also use hot glue to attach a circle to the front center and the back center. Then it's easy to attach the medallion to a card, bag, etc. Glue dots work, particularly the 3-D dots, but I find that hot glue works the best.

I love the 3-d glue dots and I also keep E6000 glue around to attach difficult things. It works wonders!

Tombow mono adhesive works well for me. One other hint is to glue a center on the front and the back side before attaching it to the card front (I usually just use a piece of scrap paper that I've punched a 1/2" circle from and attached for the backside). There is more surface area for the glue to stick to the card this way.

Hint: Be sure to let the medallion dry completely before adding more glue to attach to your card front. HTH

Oh thanks so much for all the help everyone! I feel like such an idiot sometimes asking something that I'm sure has already been hashed to death. After several months of trying to figure it out I took the leap. You're all awesome! Thanks again.

Default Glubers

I use Glubers. They are like huge glue dots and work for doing these type of embellishments and are also really good for making ribbon flowers.

Jody Morrow sells some fabulous Sticky Dots and Dimensionals on her website. These things have a ton of "stick" to them! I also love that you can order them in different sizes. I always use them when adhering the Rosettes.
