whew. Now, i feel that my paper collection is right in line where it "shoudl" be...i thought i had 'too much' in comparison to what else I had. But I think about 4 inches or so of DSP, something like 6 full 12x12's, maybe 10 6x6 or 8x8's, and some cut stacks of 6x6's that i bought off of yardsellr a while back (that really got me into it...wish it could come back!...was a way that i could earn points to buy from people!)
I had almost NONE when I moved to Las Vegas, but I am one of the recipients of Amber's (Sprtchick's) generosity, and a lot of paper from those 30-gallon tubs found its way to my crafting space. I had to buy a rolling cart so I could put all that paper where I'd find it and use it! In addition to the cart, I also have two of the Iris file boxes for 12" paper, two of the Iris scrapbook cases, and a small box of 6 x 6 pads for all of the patterned papers. Cardstock (SU!, Recollections and Hobby Lobby) are in a regular file box.
Sue...you and I need to get together! *laughs* but you are on the other side of the city, I think...I am lucky that I have been the recipient of people's help, before....but oh, I would *love* to get a 30gallon tub of paper....*laughs*
Speaking of which...I need to go through what I do have, pull what I don't really care for, and see if I can trade out on here. No, it won't be stampin'up...but there might be some of the randomness that people like. Of course, since I don't know what I have...who knows, I might have it! *laughs*
Methinks there is great potential for a TLC cable reality show amongst these posts! I'm relieved to know it's not just me, and like some of you have already said - my stash pales in comparison to the volume others are mentioning. Now I don't feel so bad (kinda like when I stew about how I look in a swimsuit until I go to a beach or pool, look around, then wonder what I was stewing about...ha).

Too funny! I can picture the episode title: Beyond Hoarding, paper obsessive stampers and scrapbookers.
I wonder if there's ever been an intervention for a paper crafting addict?
I don't know about crafting, but I have a friend who does Longaberger. She knows someone who had a Longaberger intervention. This was before any of the tv shows. They brought a guy to the house and she had to get rid of her baskets. I didn't get it at the time, but I do now!
GET RID OF...???!!! I was thinking that an intervention would have to be at P.O.S. (point of sale).
Get rid of paper? Only the ugly stuff that came with the paper pad.
Hahahaha. I think I have y'all beat. I have paper AND cardstock scattered about throughout the house. I have the majority of it in my studio, boxes of it out in the hallway, and a double tower of 12x12 in my bedroom. Hmmmm yup..... I never ever need to buy another pad of patterned paper, but........they are so pretty........ :-)
I just posted on FB the other day that I was swimming in packages of cardstock. WHERE did all that come from? I was "cleaning" and found some here, some there, some more over there, and yet more over yonder....... ACK!!!!!!
My, my, my... Very funny post...feel much better being in sympatico with fellow paper officionados. It's a proven clinical fact - if quantum physics is not in your skill set you are not required to know the sum! Spent the last two weeks organizing it and moving to smaller space (voluntarily, so there is hope). There is an answer out there but we're not allowed to know it...
It is related, biologically, to the same reason why men's carpentry "inch" is different than any other. We only have a "little" bit of paper (stickers, rhinestones, folders, ribbon, etc), right?
Although I can't seem to stop myself from buying I am on a mission to USE it. Just finished making 25 Christmas cards using retired SU paper I bought before becoming a demo. I am hoping to sell these and also hoping to make 25 more before my open house and sale. I counted last night and yes I do have 32 Iris containers loaded with paper and cardstock. I have never bought paper packs, this is all individual sheets!

I am now a fashion consultant trying to get everything ready for my new business!
I probably won't have much time anymore. I was in my stamp room the other day and asked myself how I would feel if it wasn't here anymore and I realized I would not miss it!

Exactly!! You are such a fixture and encouragement here, surely you knew we'd notice if you dropped off the face of the earth!! Same as we'd miss Lydia! I hope you don't go away though 😕
What a change for you! Exciting no doubt and I wish you much success.
I remember when I quit custom baking and took a 'real' job. My clients thought they couldn't go on without buns and pies but somehow they managed and I didn't quit baking, just on a larger scale. Still bake for home, church sometimes and other occasions. I bet you will still create, just on a smaller scale.
So I read all of the posts and thought I should share my story with you.
A couple of years ago we were looking to change our home owners insurance. Well for some reason the company sent out an insurance examiner to look at the house.
So he came upstairs and was fine with the upstairs, then, , , he went downstairs where my stamp room is. I thought oh he will understand why my work table was "messy". He asked us to come down and talk with him. He was so appalled by the amount of "paper" there was in that room that he stated he could not with a good conscious insure our home. I asked him why and he opened the door and said this is why. . .this is a fire hazard. You will have to get rid of that paper and then call me back and I may approve it. He said that he would only approve it if we signed a paper stating that if our house burned down we would NOT make a claim on our insurance as we have so much paper in that room. Excuse me. . .that is not paper it is cardstock and I love it.
I looked at him and said what? Doesn't you wife have a hobby? He said yes she scrapbooks and that is ok. I looked at him and told he could leave as I would not go with his company.
So with that I would like to say. . .Hi my name is Missy and I a paper-a-holic and proud of it.

Wow. That's scary.
I mean, if you had newspaper stacked from floor to ceiling, that would be one thing. Was your paper in plastic containers?
Also, I want to hear the rest of the story. Did you stay with your same homeowners? Did you switch to a different one? Did they inspect?
On the other hand, what if you had lots of books down there? Would that have been bad?
