Hi, I have been pretty bad. I used the double-sided mounted foam roll and used my scissor to cut the length that I need...and in the end my scissor is all cruded with sticky foam and gook. I remember seeing a thread here somewhere but forgot ..on what I can do remove the gook.
Thanks.
Goo Gone gets stuff off scissors, exacto blades (be careful), even my paper trimmer. I use it to clean my desk top too, then I use an alcohol wipe after that. Best stuff ever!
I use Goo Gone or rubbing alcohol - whichever I have handy on my desk. If I use goo gone, I have to wash the blades after to remove the oily residue. I use a hair dryer to dry them after too so they don't rust.
I have a pump bottle of hand sanitizer on my crafting desk and use that. It's alcohol based so I guess it is pretty much the same as rubbing alcohol, except I don't have to get up to go get it.

I don't have alcohol, or goo-gone or any of those fancy things (although I will try my acetone nail polish remover next time...) so I just use Versamark! I rub the blades of the scissors against the pad wipe off with a rag! I don't know who I learned that from but I've been doing it for years!

Wow. I didn't realize that I can use Versamark and alcohol. I don't have any goo gone on hand, guess I don't need to run to the store. Thanks you ladies, I knew I can find answers to all of my crafting questions answered here.
Call me crazy but peanut butter (just a little smear) will do it too. No don't lick it off-LOL_ just wipe it so the oil doesn't remain on the blades. I think it's the oil that gets to the sticky stuff. I use it to remove the sticky that always remains from removing price stickers, too.
Un-Du or goo gone..Both work great. Whatever one I have onhand..Most often Un-Du..I love the little scraper on the end of the bottle that help me left stuff that gets really stuck on...
I vote for Un-du. Not only is it great for removing the sticky stuff, it's great for the panel that got adhered crooked. It doesn't ruin the paper and the sticky is still there so you can apply it again (hopefully straight this time).
But, do not get the VOC compliant version. It doesn't work as well as the regular one.
LoL. You ladies are too funny! Glad to say, I got the glue off my scissors....I had about 6 pairs that needed adhesive removal ( I just moved on to the next pair when it gets too sticky). Thank you so much. The peanut butter tops everything in my book. Next time, I will need to share my lunch with my scissor. ;) does anyone know how to sharpen cutter blades for paper cutters? I am down to my last sharp blade and needed to pick up a few new packs.
I use OMS (odorless mineral spirits) as I have a container that sits on my desk for the Gamsol Magic technique. OMS also removes permanent ink.
Don't use it on a painted surface (unless you want to remove the paint) or on your clear mount blocks as it will eventually cause spider cracks. I clean all my tools with it (handles of scissors, rulers, paper cutter, etc.). OMS is my go to cleaner in my stamp room.
Just thought I would mention what I do. To remove the sticky residue I also use goo gone, but to prevent the sticky residue from even sticking to my scissors I will put a little baby powder on them before I begin cutting something sticky- works every time ;)
There are many answers here and I can see another suggestion is not really NEEDED...however; I just use whatever nail polish remover I have in the house. I saw a mention of pure acetone; but my nail polish remover that is "normal" works just as well. Back when all the rubber stamps bought from SU needed to be trimmed yourself, I put in many hours cutting and then removing the sticky gunk from my scissors.
I prefer the nail polish remover only because I find the odor the least offensive.
