I just bought several sets of Autumn Leaves clear unmounted stamps. Love them and love that they come pre-stained! Some have worried about getting their clear stamps stained and I find myself actually putting black ink on and purposely staining so that they are easy to see and read. These come this way to begin with and I love the idea!
I personally wouldn't like that. The advantage of clear for me is that I can see right through them. I try to keep them as clean as I can for as long as possible.
Okay, I understand now. I guess I need to get a visual. Mine aren't that stained yet. I clean the black off right away so they are just barely tinted. I'll have to check out the AL ones if you recommend them.
I have some that come with black on the "working" side from ProvoCraft. I kind of like the idea, takes away the anxiety of "messing them up". However I haven't used them yet. They don't stick to the sheet in the package they come in very well. That sort of worries me. <sigh>

Oh, my LOL!! I just discovered they are not stained. They are on a clear sheet where they are on top of an acetate sheet that has the design in black!! I guess I will have to go stanin them myself.

That's funny! I was just thinking to myself, how would that work?? (being pre-stained)

I was wondering what you were talking about, LOL. Mine were clear as a bell until I used my full sized black SU pad. Then it turned yellow. My black stampin spot cleaned off like a charm. Don't know why this is, don't really care as long as they stamp.
If you are referring to only clear, then I really don't mind, it is easier to see the design when not in use. If you're talking rubber, I don't mind that either! LOL! I actually bought a used stamp at the LSS about a month ago. It was in with everything else and I picked it up and thought - oh it is used! Weird! Then I noticed the price and said ... gotta buy it! So that worked out for me cuz it was on clearance.

I was wondering if they'd changed something! I got the Scribbles alphabet a couple months ago and they weren't stained until I used them...
WalMart has the numbers to match... debating whether I want them or not... my OCD says I have to have the numbers to match, but I perfer rubber instead of acrylic....

I have eight sets of these stamps you mentioned. The larger images adhere just fine to the acrylic blocks even though they too don't stick to the packaging the way it looks like they should. The smaller stamps from these sets (like the ones smaller than 1 cm square) don't stick to the block terribly well, though. :( I still use them (after all I got them for 4 bucks a set! a downright steal!) but plan to put some other adhesive on the smaller stamps, like Alene's Tack it Over and Over, or some ds tape or something.
I guess all people aren't Buffett fans...sorry...basically..thats when people start drinking...Thats something I would have asked after a few Margaritas....it was a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still looking for my lost shaker of salt... I think it's lost on my craft table... probably next to the unmounteds I can never seem to keep track of ;)

I would be happy to go into the stamp staining business for the low low price of... ;) lol.
I have heard/read of some stampers who purposely "stain" their stamps whether it be red rubber, acrylic, etc to be able to visualize the lines...doesn't bother me to use a stained stamp...as long as it stamps!
Some of the photopolymer stamps from KI Memories come in fun, jello colours. More than just the stamping surface is coloured, but I spose you could think of those as stained all the way through. I want those ones!
