Well the catty is really only a few $ to us - I think the one suggestion of a free ink pad is great - or let them pick something no more than $ 5 in value ..
My demo gives a free stamp pad, and if you don't need that she'll give a pack of paper. Or anything around that price range.

My Demo did the cutest thing at my last workshop. She made these three little pocketbooks with a chocolate nugget in them.>On the bottom of the chocolate inside she had put a message. I had to choose one of the pocketbooks and open it and see what my prize was. I won $15.OO worth of free product!!!!!
Another had said, a pack of paper, another, a pad of my choice. It was very exciting and fun for everyone there (especially me!)
Lisa, I will be your demo! Just kidding...I'm sure yours is awesome....and maybe she's just never thought of this....giving a small gift for hostessing multiple workshops a year. Anyway, sorry to hijack...just wanted to say hey.
I am just a hobby demo but do run a special that pretty much never changes. I give EVERYONE a FREE ink pad with a $50 purchase, a FREE ink pad and FREE pack of single colored paper with a $100 purchase (and a catty if at one of my workshops) haven't had anyone hit the $150 mark but then they would get the catty, and all the hostess bennies too!! I haven't had any hostesses yet but have had customers earn the catty, the next order if over $100 they get to pick another ink pad though!
I think I must be the luckiest hostess of all! My demo always gives me a catalog for my first workshop after July 1. I usually have several workshops over the year. One year, she gave me a beautiful set of coasters. THis year, she gave me a set of pastels! I had over a $900 workshop, but she didn't know that when she gave me the gift. Maybe this is why she says she doesn't make money on this. She is low key, designs great projects, and I love having her for my demo!
My Gals almost always have the catalog so they usually get the free classic ink pad. I love the idea of also giving them a pack of paper in addition to the ink pad for a second party! I'm announcing that at my next card group!!
Thanks for the hint.
Barb
Our demo gives the hostess a quarter sheet of c.s. from every color in the four color groups. Great for helping new stampers to decide which colors to order.
How about SU's Color Coach--it is a bit more than a catty but if she is a great hostess. I love the Color Coach--it gives me so many excellent color ideas. I think owning the Color Coach would encourage customers to own 'all the colors'!
Gee, when I host after I've had a catalog a while, I just make a deal for the next year's catalog. So when I host in March, I'll get an IOU for the 06-07 IB&C.
Works for me!

I am in a monthly stamp club so of course we rotate the hostess each month. When it was my turn my bill was about $150.00 and my party total was just over $600.00. Our demo just gives us what we are credited for in the catty. I know some of the other ladies have had much bigger party totals. We are totally addicted (our committed monthly spending is only $50.00) most of us almost always go over $100.00. The extra goodies would be really nice but, I guess I have to out weigh the fact that we have an absolutely fantastic demo. Everything is always cut for us. She supplies everything. We always make at least 3 sometimes 4 projects, time permitting and they are usually not easy projects. The time and expense she puts out for us is amazing. Many people from other demo groups have told me that many of their projects are not nearly as nice as ours. So I guess that is the choice I make with my demo. I think it is expensive sometimes being a demo and for those of us that have good one's I hope we all appreciate them. Sorry for being so lengthy but as you can tell I really appreciate mine.
