H'orderves & desserts reception

My SIL is getting married next June on an outdoor pavilon and for her "reception" she is serving only H'orderves and desserts. We are unable to
come up with some original wording for her invites that won't leave guests thinking it's your usual reception with a main course. Has anyone prepared invites for this kind of event that would be willing to share their verbiage? Thx.

I remember having a little birthday party where we only had the cake and ice cream party, not the usual dinner thing that we always had. I remember putting something on the invitation, something like...

join us for cake and ice cream to celebrate xxx's birthday.

Simple and clear so there was no misunderstanding that a dinner would be served. Maybe you could say something in the invitation about a "h'orderves and dessert reception". HTH

Also, consider the time of the reception. If it is mid-afternoon or late evening, those are not dinnertimes and invitees wouldn't expect a full meal. I would only worry about the wording if the reception is actually during or close to a meal time.

I went to a wedding that had an hors d'oeuvres and dessert reception and the invitation simply stated it. It was down the in bottom corner of the invitation.

Just watch the spelling! I saw hors d'ouevres spelled incorrectly recently.

I've received invitations for a "Dessert Reception" and I would simply put the notation at the bottom also - "hors d'ouevres and dessert reception to follow the ceremony" or something like that
