For the homemade paper buttons, what other kind of glue can you on top of it, if you don't have the glossy accents? Thanks!
I think any of the clear glues would work: I've used aleene's paper glaze, KI Memories Gloo, and judikins diamond glaze, all to similar effect. (If you live by an archiver's, the GLOO has been in the hot spot recently...)
I don't have any diamond glaze, I will try some regular clear glue and see what happens, I don't have any neat craft stores around here, just AC Moore and Michael's!

You can get the Glossy Accents or something like it at Michaels...
You can also heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Coat your layered button with versamark, dip in cleam EP, and heat set. I put mine on a non-stick mat to dry.
Oh to hold onto the button white you emboss, I stick a needle in the back and hold the needle with my tweezers. There is probably a better way, but it works for me. Oh, one more... you need to clear out the EP in the button holes before you emboss.
Clear nail polish. It will take 2 coats. One to absorb and one on top for gloss.
I bought some clear nail polish specifically to try this. I found that it absorbed into the paper a lot and altered the color. It was a mess and kind of smelly too (but then I don't use nail polish so maybe I'm just not used to it). My suggestion...If you try this, do it on scrap paper first and make sure it works for your paper before taking it to your project.
I have tried it and it worked great with my smaller button like three quarter inch, with my one inch button it changed the shape some because it soaked in. I will try again using maybe a couple more layers.
I found a new-to-me product at walmart by Mod-Podge - it's called "dimensional magic" and it dries clear, shiny, and it crackles beautifully if you want it to...I'm looking forward to trying a faux-cracked-glass project without making a huge UTEE mess!
It cost about $4 Canadian, so not too expensive if I didn't like how it worked...and the 2 oz bottle seems like it will last quite a while as a little dab does ya.
When I've used nail polish I didn't like the effect either - there was no dimension, just stink! Those of you who like the polish, what brand do you use? My guess is that brand is important

I wonder if that's the same as the Plaid Dimensional Magic which I haven't seen for a couple of years. I loved it, it was a bit thinner than Glossy Accents. I'll check that out .
I think it might be - it does have "PLAID" in small letters at the top of the bottle! I really do like it - it looks sort of runny but doesn't go anywhere except where you put it.
