if you want to add a little fragrance to the flax seed bags for aches/pains
add 10 drops of any essential oil per one cup of flax seed - make sure you put your flax seed in a air tight container before you put your oil in - shake it up and let it soak for 24 hours or more.
I'm making this for my SIL and added lavendar essential oil.
GREAT idea with the bath bombs - dipping them in the melted soap and with sprinkles - love that!
Apparently DD took some photos of the bath fizzie bon-bons we made before she packaged them up. She's turning into such a little Martha. Anyway here they are.
The recipe I used is:
1 c. baking soda
3/4 c. citric acid (found online at nutsonline.com for the best price)
1/4 c. cornstarch
10 drops fragrance oils (used soap scents from Hobby Lobby)
Mister bottle with water
Mix all dry ingredients and make sure there are no lumps. Add fragrance. mix again. Mist with water (not too much - maybe 8 spritzes at first). Mix while spraying. You really do not want to over wet because this will start the fizzing action. continue to spritz one spray at a time while mixing. Get it only wet enough until the mixture holds together.
DOES NOT TAKE MUCH WATER! If you happen to over wet not a problem. Allow mixture to dry out. Crumble up and place in jars for a powdery "bath fizzie".
for dipping:
4 oz. whitened glycerin soap base (bought at Hobby Lobby)
1 drop red food coloring
candy sprinkles
mini muffin papers
Melt soap, add colorant. Dip bon-bons and quickly add sprinkles. Place in muffin liners until soap hardens.
We packaged out little bon-bons in cello bags with irridescent paper shred. Tied a huge loopy bow on and gave them to DD's calssmates. You may want to add a note that reminds the kids that although they are pretty enough to eat DO NOT EAT!

I love these- they're non-fattening! Good idea for a friend's birthday.
So how'd everyone do with their homemade gifts on this post? I did the bath salts & even my 21yo son was impressed. My husband stole a jar of them so I had to hide the rest to wrap for him. They were well appreciated, for sure.
well, you know how it is LOL... first, i get a 'thanks', then I say 'its handmade'... then i get a 'WOW'.
The 'WOW' is what lets me know they liked it...

I mostly made cards, some of which i put in metal tins, like CD tins, that I used a Crop-a-dile to put a hole in and put a ribbon through, so it looked like a purse. I also used some of the easy folder type holders for cards. I *think* they were all well received, as much as I could tell. I am never sure if it is more flattering when people hold on to the cards because they think they are so special, or when they just give them away and say nothing.
