After just reading the post on Scrapbookers v Cardmakers I realised I have no idea what I am!
I have only been a member here for a short while and find it difficult to know where to post because I use inks and stamps with different media than the normal paper and card.
I could class it as mixed media but thats too broad an expression because so is srapbooking and cardmaking!
I tell people that I'm a paper crafter. I figure this covers the realm of possibilities when it comes to paper and I don't have to decide what I am other than obsessed.
Mixed media can be good, and take you completely off the beaten track. For example, you could use mono prints to make papers, and other colour mediums not normally associated with card making/scrapbooking. mind you these days much of that is used, however, I find card making seems to be more formalised than regular mixed media cards - another example, is to google Artist Trading Card and use the images button. This is what I do to get inspiration.
When I see people take our rulers to measure matts for photographs or stamped images, and then measure the matt onto the Scrapbook page, or card I have to wonder about things. It isn't really art when it is measured. Just whack it on with a bit of guesstimation. Tearing is better than cutting. Splashing on paint is better than masking any day. Yes I do use a cutter and I do use masks, but I never use a ruler to see how close to the edge my images are going to be. I have to draw a line somewhere.
You are you, and you do what you love, and you don't need to be defined. You're an artist, and an innovative one at that!
Art is one thing to me, and another thing to someone else. Sorry, but to say "art isn't ________" seems pretty bold... I know I would be lost without my paper cutter and ruler, and I don't find those things hindering my creativity!

I love this answer. Why do you have to be in a class cardmaker or scrapper? I totally agree you are you and that is what is important. You are talented and enjoy creating. So that is what you are a talented creator of artwork. I mean that is what we are all right? Creators of artwork.
We are all unique. Don't worry about categorising yourself into existing categories. Create a new one to suit ur style and what you are doing. That is how you should define yourself.
