Question Help with tag book binding?

When I run my tag book through my sewing machine for the binding, it get's all botched up. Even though I keep the stitches far apart and loose, the machine "perforates" the paper and it wants to fall apart. Also, the bobbin side thread is very "loopy"

Anyone have any ideas to help me with the binding on a tag book? My book is 3 or 4 pages thick.

I ended up just using a hole punch and ribbon to hold it together, but I would prefer to sew it like the example showed.

Have you tested the sewing on regular fabric? Could be it's not the layers of paper but maybe threaded wrong? That's what I'd check first. Usually loopy bobbin thread means top thread is wrong (and vice versa). And, make sure you've put the pressure foot down. I know it sounds silly, but I just made that mistake myself, and I've been sewing for 40 years!! Hope some of these suggestions help. Good luck.

Thank you Ravae for your tips. I checked out my machine on fabric, and it worked OK. I appreciated your advice, I am a novice sewer and the reason I don't sew more often is exactly what occurred this time w/the tag book. I end up spending more time doctoring my machine than actually sewing. Then I get discouraged and give up.

My first thought was to check the tension setting on your machine. If the bobbin thread is too loose, that may be the problem. I always have to read my manual to figure out whether to tighten or loosen the tension because I can never remember. Hope you can figure it out!!

You also might want to see if your bobbin is in right side up. if the bobbin is in upside down you will get problems, and like kstamper said, check your tension.
