Smile help! stamping small letters

Anyone have a good technique for stamping those stamps with small, thin letters? I always make it look unevenly weird and thick.

Thanks!
I'm off to work now, but I'll check in later

I get better results by inking them with a marker. I think it's just too easy to over-ink them using a bad. And while stamping them off once helps, then the second stamping is usually lighter than I want. So for me, markers are the answer.

Don't press too hard - that seems to squish down the rubber too much. A light touch should do.
