Ok, here's the deal. My MIL is retiring in a couple of weeks and I need something really fabulous to give her.... and I don't have a clue! I've been looking for clues but I don't see any paw prints...and I don't have a blue puppy either...
My brain is mush.
I've done a bday calendar, notepad and pens, and even post it note holders. So...been there...done that.
She and my FIL love camping. I want to do something that will be relaxing and fun.
Ideas anyone???
Links welcome..I'm not always the best with imagining...maybe that's why I don't have a blue dog...

what about a really cool stationery set that she could take with her on camping trips? include stamps and a beaded pen, so she'd be able to send notes home? then, a matching covered journal so she could write about her trips?
Ohh I like it I am going to build off it.
What about a memory book of some type that she can put recipts, brochures, ticket stubs, photos, ya know a place to store all the memorabilla along the way. That way if she ever wants to scrapbook her adventures she
can easily do it.

Well, I don't know about following these "clues" and I'm not blue, but I do have some gift ideas for you. I'm not sure who you want it to be relaxing and fun for, hopefully you.
How about:
an altered composition book (like THIS only bigger) for your MIL to journal in when she's camping
or you could make her a name frame like this one using earthy colors and some stamps that are camping or nature related
or here's a photo album from Target I altered for my fiends that like to spend time at the lake.

What a poet!!
Great ideas so far ladies! I was considering one of the brag books to make a photo album and also one of the 12 x 12 fold out ones... Maybe a basket to put them in. I was even considering an altered file folder with some games in it like Suduko and crosswords...hmmm
What about making a scrapbook without pictures? Use travel and camping themes for the pages with 4 x 6 spots left for her to insert the pictures after her first post-retirement camping trip?
You could do a paint can and fill it with items you will frequently use while camping. Matches, cards, one of those flashlights that dont need batteries, bug spray, hand sanitizer.
I've only been camping once and didn;t have a good time so if anyone wants to elaborate on this go for it!
I like these! I was also thinking of a cute box for playing cards or other games, but that's already been mentioned. And I like the "camping essentials" idea, too, but I'd add a roll of TP to the can--that's a camping essential! Actually, they have some little rolls of TP in the travel section at Target. I think it's called "Charmin on the Go" or something--these little treasures were invaluable on our trip to China, where TP & stall doors are both somewhat "optional" in public restrooms...

WHAAA?? Holy cow! I'll remember that if I ever go to China. I like the TP idea. So many cool camping ideas. Although my inlaws don't really "rough it" in their fancy RV. They'd really like all these things though.
