Hi all! I am doing some reinker ornaments today and I have all the steps down.. the 1 question I have is this.. when I do the reinker and turn it to let it dry but before I add the glitter.. how long should I let it drain? If it is too long will the glitter not stick? Thanks all! I only have 6 ornaments so I don't want to do too many trial runs! lol
I usually let mine drain until there isn't an obvious drip. I did some last year (my first year stamping!) that I didn't drain as well, and there was a dark puddle in them. The ones I let drain well came out beautiful. I also added just a few drops of water before the reinker just to wet the inside of the ball first. That seems to cut down on the streaks and uneven coating of the ink as well.
Thanks! I tried the water and found it helps alot too!! Now how do I get my thumb clean? lol I have 2 boxes of rubber gloves and I didn't use them why?? lol

LOL I use a paper towel folded up as a "stopper" for shaking. That also helps with some of the extra moisture! I forgot about that until you mentioned the icky thumb!
I made several cranberry ornaments -- and I recycled the ink. I had them drain (1 at a time) into a paper cup then when I went onto the next one, I reused the ink. It worked great until I thinned it a little too much with water so I ended up with some beautiful cranberry ornaments and some pink ornaments.

I use "finger rubbers" (not the technical name for it) They look like mini condoms (seriously ) Just slip one on your thumb and your good to go.
I got them at the local drug store. (in the band-aid section) You get a bunch in a pack and quicker to slip on then gloves.

Now that's "safe" crafting!! ;) (No need to abstain!) hehehe
I read a post by SweetHeidiJo Forums at Splitcoaststampers 6797
She explained it very well. Also has some examples of colors. I found that 3 drops of water from my finger & 12 drops of reinker worked good for me (for the smaller ornaments, comes in a 12 pack) (LET DRY @10 min. then add @ 1/2 tsp glitter & shake)
I used cranberry crisp inker & our red glitter & it came out good.
I used Lovely Lilac (my tree has a purple and snowflake theme) and I put Dazzling Diamonds after the reinker finished dripping, turns out beautiful, looks irridescent, plus I embossed a snowflake on the outside of the bulb.
Is anyone having trouble with the new reinkers..........I've been putting 15 or so drops in without water and it still seems to almost completely come back out of the bulb, like it has nothing to stick to on the inside. Any thoughts???
Let me add that I have had to do the reinker process 3 times to get a good result. I know someone said that the new reinkers are thinner, but holy cow.
