I went to a stampin up party where someone's father had made a cool wooden stand that holds the heating gun, hands free. Her dad had made it just for her and was not selling them. You slide the heating gun into the holder so the gun is pointing down. Then when you are ready to heat, you just turn it on.
Found one for sale on E-Bay.
I've seen better ones out there but this is a beginning.
The price seems a little high... Maybe someone on SCS has a handy husband and they could make a few bucks.
I just tried to click on Karen Flynn's site and it comes up not found. I've seen some heat gun holders that also hold the heat gun so it's pointing down....I think I can try make one up to see how it'll work. I'm the handy crafts person in the household. I use to make wooden dolls when my girls were young and now I have a use for my wood supply again. If I can get one made and it's isn't too dumpy looking, I'll post a pic here.

Long time ago I bought a doll stand with a 40% coupon at Michaels...wound up costing a couple of bucks at most. I'll try and get a picture up later but in the meantime, it's a metal thing. Stands on a round base which holds a metal rod about 8" tall. At the top of the rod is a metal circle. When I'm done embossing I just put the tool into the top circle and it stays....waaaaay cheaper than one of those wooden stands, not to mention less bulky.

Just a tip about embossing guns...another way to fry a perfectly good heat tool is to point the barrel at a straight angle, directly down toward the paper. The hot air is bounced back directly into the heat tool, contributing to the likelihood of literally burning the motor...best to hold the tool at a slight angle to allow the air to flow away from the barrel.
HTH,

I thought this was relevent here too from another thread. Thanks for the tip Betsy.
I also for years have used a doll stand! Had a few from my DD collection and thought wow that would hold it perfect! It did and ever since been using it
