Default Gingerbread House Question??

Each year at Christmas my husband and I make gingerbread houses with our grandchildren from the cake kits with real candy and icing etc. These are very messy and we end up just throwing them away. I noticed SU has a house on p 37 of the holiday mini. I don't know what it is made of or how sturdy it might be. I was thinking about getting these and before they get here make up some paper candies, gingerbread men etc. If we use all paper they could keep the houses. I could use some real candy if the house is strudy enough. I would appreciate your thoughts on this and any links you know of to cute cards or 3-D items that feature gingerbread houses. Thank you for your help.

It's very sturdy and very easy to put together. I've only made a haunted house so far but I'll be making a gingerbread house (out of just paper not real candy) soon. I'd suggest a strong glue for the candy though but they are really sturdy and really stiff thick cardboard type material. I LOVE them!

Does or did SU have any candy shaped stamps? Are there other companies that have them? Thank you Minders for your response.

No problem! There was a set with some candy that was more of a Halloween theme last year. There is also the peppermint looking stamp in the new Jolly Bingo bits set. There might be other sets...maybe someone else will know!

I'm probably going to create my own "candy" out of punches and paper and maybe ribbons and buttons and such. Have fun!

The craft stores often have Fun Foam gingerbread house kits, too. They come with "accessories", for embellishing the house, too. You might check at Michael's, etc.

Then, you can have REAL gingerbread cookies fresh from the oven for ya'all to munch on while you're crafting. ;)

HTH!

Lookie! I found it...I just printed it onto the 8 1/2 x 11 paper. They are small but you could make a ton of them. I made about 15 last year in a day. it was a great way to use all my punches...

That's a cute house but Id worry how just CS would hold up...I like the new SU houses because of how sturdy they are. I know I can put them in a plastic storage container and keep re-using them! I was really glad to see how sturdy they were! I think they are reasonably priced too so that's good! They even come with a cute little door knob, hehe:-)

Oh, they would hold up for a couple of years at least but...they are great to fill with treat and give away. My friends love the 'chocolate' houses I gave to them last year. We have a grocery store that has a chocolatier...omg it is so good and 2 fit in there perfectly.

I start my diet every day, LOL! I gained a bit AFTER my wedding in June since I didn't have to fit in the dang dress anymore:-) The M&Ms for my sweet centers turkeys have NOT made it into the turkeys as of yet....the first OR second bag, LOL! I'm NOT eating any tonight though...even if it kills me...and it might, lol! Good luck!
