I was just curious if anybody else does this- I look through the gallery and try to find cards that have few/no comments on them. It's really surprising the sweet, beautiful cards that have been posted for awhile, yet have none!! Commenting on other stamper's cards is one of the things I love about SCS!

Yes, I do that. It's easy to get caught up in commenting on the challenge cards, but there are so many people who don't join in the challenges, and I love to encourage people . I think it's so important! When I first started on SCS , I think there were a few people who just kept an eye on my cards and encouraged me - I try to do the same for people! I truly enjoy commenting!
I totally agree with debzi333, I get caught up with the commenting on the challenge submissions!! When I find a stamper that I really like, I try to go to their gallery and comment on as many cards as I have time for. In fact, I just got done going through a couple today!! Keep up the good work girls!!
Oh wow, i never thought of this. This is really a great idea! I think I want to do this too, as I dont have a gallery yet, but think mine would be ones with little comments! Thanks for enabling me!
CAcardcreatin' I am with you! Knowing how everyone's comments make me feel.....special, artsy, encouraged, happy....I try to spread some cheer by doing the same thing. A few words of kindness go a long, long way toward making someone's day.
I do this, too! Since I am happy about every comment I get I am sure everybody else is, especially the people without or less comments on their projects. Everybody puts lot of effort in their cards and this is worth to be mentioned in form of a nice comment.
I know there are a lot of great artists here and they always get comments like about 30+. This is nice but sometimes people just look for this special stamper and give them a comment just because she is their favorite stamper.
Know what I mean? I don't know how else I should put this into words because my English is okay (I am Germnan) but sometimes I don't find the right ones....
You guys are all so sweet! I'm encouraged that some people still enjoy looking at the work of the "relatively unknown" participants in the SCS gallery. Why? Because I have been very discouraged lately uploading my work. I used to post alot, then when I started blogging, I didn't post so much here. Then I decided I'd give it a try again, and now I can barely get 6comments under my belt on any one card I upload. I don't know if that's because I blog too, and put my blog link in my uploads (along with all the pertinent recipe information) or what the deal is. I know many people on this site don't like when bloggers leave their address on their uploads. Maybe my work really stinks and I don't even know it? LOL! You never know.
I've heard all the arguments there is to hear about this subject (lack of comments)......so many uploads makes it hard to see everything in the gallery, "participate in challenges, that will get you comments", time of day you upload, but in the end, it doesn't seem to matter. People are attracted to and love commenting on the "FANTABULOUS CREATIONS" that get uploaded every day by the elite stampers. Who wouldn't be attracted to that stuff. It's gorgeous. But there are so many other talented women out there who want to get recognized for their work. The argument that you shouldn't upload for anyone or anything other than for yourself is lame (in my honest opinion). It is human nature to want recognition for what you do. If no one is seeing or acknowledging your work on this site, why bother?
I'm sorry if I hijacked such a sweet thread. You guys really stirred some hard feelings I've been experiencing lately regarding my most recent uploads. I can honestly say, I think I've uploaded my last work here. Not that anyone will care, that's not what I'm looking for. It's just alot of work uploading/writing recipes that if no one cares one way or another, I'll put my efforts elsewhere.
I'm sure I'll get flames for this, I've got my shield and armour on just in case. But I've stuffed the feelings long enough. It was time to let go and voice my point of view. And in case your're wondering, yes, I leave comments on others work, most notably the cards I see that amazingly, have no comments. Go figure.
One thing that helps is the Favorites thread that gets started each Sunday. I'm always amazed at the cards I missed because the thread forces me to click on the link and look at the cards. When I post my list of favorites I'm always amazed that a card I thought was fabulous only has a few comments, and I'm also sort of secretly hoping that others will leave comments on these cards once they see how fabulous they are.

Don't stop - some of us newer people who are just lurkers and whatever appreciate all the hard work, and sometimes I don't comment just cuz I don't have a gallery and don't know that my opinion matters. From now on I will act like it does matter!! Take off your armour and give some of us who don't know what the heck we are doing enjoy your work and realize we can have input.
I've noticed cards that have just a few comments have been favorited dozens of times. If everyone left a comment on a card they were saving to their favorites, that would be great.
last time I tried to "favorite" a card, nothing happened, or something came up and said I couldn't so haven't tried again for months...or emailed them to myself to save...there are some wonderful ideas in there.
I could care less about the blogging as long as the "recipe" is included with the card, as per the SCS instructions. I don't go to blogs unless I am looking for latest SU! sneak peak and that is where to find it - don't really get the blog thing...
I need to get better about commenting! This post has been a polite kick in the rear. I usually have a baby on my lap when I'm browsing the gallery, which makes it a little difficult to post a coherent comment
And, to the OP, CAcardcreatin', could your avatar be any cuter????
y'know, this is a great thread. I'm guilty of this too. I look at so many beautiful cards and i only put comments on a few that I put in my favorites. I figure, I'm still learning and what does my opinion matter, it's just more "noise."
But now I learned how to use my scanner and have started uploading my own cards for the very first time. And now I crave comments, even though mine are not the best and I know it. I guess I just want a little validation that I'm trying hard. Does that make sense? I uploaded three Hanukkah cards Monday morning, my second upload ever, and I keep looking to see if anyone commented.
So now I'm thinking that if that's the way I feel, I bet other women feel the same. So I'm going to try very hard to comment on all sorts of cards even just to say that it caught my eye among all the others. Because everyone needs to feel good about being creative!

My personal belief: If I have not posted at least 10 times as many comments on cards as the number of cards I have uploaded to the gallery, then I am letting down the talented stampers here at SCS.
I often look for new stampers who are just opening their galleries and try to encourage them with comments.
I like commenting on cards that have zero or very few comments to them because I don't generally get oodles of comments on my cards. My record number of comments received on a card is 10. I sometimes get kind of discouraged when I see cards that have 25-35 comments. Not that I'm dying for validation from the SCS community because I have plenty of friends and family who enjoy my creations . . . but a comment here and there on SCS sure feels good, which is why I try to comment on cards that I like that have fewer comments. Heck, I figure that if a card has 35 comments, 35 other people have already said what I'd be saying so I'd just be redundant and I try to put my effort elsewhere instead.

Here's a novel idea. Instead of spending all of our time reading posts like this one, why don't we post comments instead? So if you spending two hours reading posts, spend 2 hours posting comments. But then, if you didn't read this post, you wouldn't know to post comments instead! So much for that good idea!

Another wonderful thread on the gallery! I was wondering if was becoming a dying "art"!! I thought maybe b/c so many have blogs now that everyone is blog hopping!!! Anyway, I've been encouraged of late with comments in my gallery...thank YOU! I've been participating in the challenges and I know that helps ALOT! Not just the comments I get, but getting out of my comfort zone to try new colors, etc!
We are on the same page. I don't do it as often as I like, but I love finding treasures in the gallery that are not commented on. In fact, many times, the simpler cards are the ones I draw inspiration from because it is something that I know I can do and try. I guess I am still a newbie, but when someone comments on my cards I am giddy. I got my mom hooked over Thanksgiving by posting a few of her cards in my gallery. She loved that someone took time to complement her cards. Thanks for the reminder!

I must say that being a newbie it has taken a lot of courage for me to post my cards. When I get a comment I am happy. When I get favorited I am ecstatics. If I ever got picked as one of the favorites of the week I would probably go wild. lol. Anyway, what I am getting at is that comments are important, especially to newbies who are somewhat intimidated by all of the creative people out there.

I always try to find cards that haven't been commented on to leave comments. I know how much the comments that others leave for my cards brightens my day so I try to pass it along.
I like getting in on the comment thread, it seems to help. I guess my cards are just too simple for most people to want to comment on them, but simple is what I like.

I go through the new uploads almost every day. Although I don't give sympathy comments, I am amazed at the number of adorable and beautiful cards with very few comments. I don't concentrate on just the challenge cards because I would miss so much!
I'm like pinkypapers. Once a card has 25-35 comments, what else can you say. I like to comment on the cards that attracts my attention and there is alot of them. I'm really bad at not paying attention to who even made the card. I just comment away. Most of my posts are comments on cards.
You guys are all great! I wish I could shower all of you with hundreds of compliments on your cards, because it really is great to get feedback. I haven't seen a gallery yet that doesn't look like the creator hasn't put time and effort into it!

I have recently made a point of doing more commenting in the gallery...mostly to whatever card or project really "speaks" to me...whether it has no comments or several. I felt really good about doing this and need to take the time to comment more regularly. Thanks for the reminder!!
