I thought I'd toss this out there to see what ideas are out there. How do you fund your stamping addiction?
The demonstrator option is always a favorite. But not everyone can be a demonstrator - someone has to be the customer!
In the past I've used birthday cash, but that can run out quick. Last year I made tons of really simple cards and sold them at a craft show. So far that cash is holding out. However, I'm really not sure if I can stomach the thought of 500 of the same card again. Yikes!
I have started a second direct sales business to fund my habit
How about a garage sale?
Teach a stamping or scrapbooking class at a local craft store, school or recreation department?
I picked up a part time job... then decided I had no time to stamp, and that gave me even less, so now I use my "allotted spending money" each month -- when I don't spend all of it, it goes towards my addiction.
I also saw someone on here saves all of her change, so I've started doing that, too.
$$ from selling cards, begging for birthday & Christmas
I need a lot of options, because I can't make a lot of $$ at any of them.
Guess I need a sugar daddy.
LOL JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!
Seen that commercial with the guy who says: "How do I do it?....I'm in debt up to my eyeballs!"
No, I'm a good girl, pay my credit card off every month. I don't buy expensive jewelry or clothes (I remind my husband every once in a while how lucky he is about that). I'm very fortunate that we have a comfortable living, not rich, but not too worried. My son is no longer in childcare and I recently paid off my car loan. Woohoo!
Mostly though, I have learned even before I got into SU, that I save for what I want (even when I was a kid). I am in a group of about 10 women who rotate being a SU hostess throughout the year. So, I am patient about ordering off my wish list, trying to spend about the same amount with all.
Moderation ladies, good advice for most occasions.

I'm starting a pt job, to pay bills but hoping there will be a little left over for my stamps. I'm hoping there will be time, with 2 jobs I'm not sure. Well, who needs a clean house and clothes anyway? lol
I work full-time. Of course, that doesn't give me many hours to play with my stamps.
I am trying to limit myself to $100 of "me" money per month. This is the first month for me to try this. I spent the whole shebang on March 1 - silver jewelry day on QVC. I can't wait for April 1!!!!
When I was growing up, my mom was a stay-at-home mom. Although my father made a decent living, she would clip coupons and save money whenever she could. The money she saved from coupons was her extra play money that she was able to spend without feeling guilty. One year she bought this incredible grandfather clock with her play money.
By the way, she is the woman you don't want to be behind in line at the grocery store. She has all the competitor's ads and tons of coupons. I've seen her leave a store with a grocery cart full of food for $5 - she is the queen of saving money!!!
In addition to being a TAC demo (which I am not very active at this year), I teach Adult Education classes on Card Making at a local high school. They pay me $20/hour, so for a 4 week course, 2 hours per night I make $160, plus I charge a $5 materials fee per person. I do this class twice a year in the Spring and Fall. This has definitely help to fund my addiction, especially since I am only a hobby demo.
The schools that I have taught at and looked into do not require any teaching experience. I did not have to interview either. I just sent a letter stating what I wanted to teach and included an outline. The coordinator then contacted me and said that they would put me on the schedule. One school required me to sign a contract, but the school that I taught at twice already only required me to fill out a form so they could pay me.
[QUOTE=MadgeRPh]Right now I am a hobby demo and I ask for SU stuff for Xmas and Mothers' Day but I did have a few ways I was thinking about raising extra cash....
1. Setting up a lemonade stand outside an office complex. However, the
lemonade would be Absolut Citron.
2. Selling my spare organs. I can get by with one kidney and who needs an
appendix anyway.

Excellent ideas
Especially #1 - it would help the work day sometimes

Currently I work full time and DH is the SAHM/D so the regular paychecks are pretty much accounted for each month. So to fund my stamping addiction (as well as other "non-essentials") I started secret shopping (Mystery Shopping). I can generally do 2-3 a day when I have a day where my schedule isn't overloaded and each "job" pays $10-$20 - gets me a few stamp sets, paper, ink, etc each month. If I could mystery shop all the time (set my own schedule, shop all day, get paid to do it  ) and still get paid my full time wages.......hmmmm..... a girl can dream can't she?
Seriously, I'm trying to fund my stamping activities with some ebay sales of 'around the house' items. Since opening my own bidness a few months ago, there really isn't any extra $$ around. So far, I've been able to sell a few things, and bought a few stamps.
I don't know how long I can keep it up, but I'm trying!!

I work 2-3 saturdays a month (6-7 hour day) as a nurse, this covers my fun money, but DH rarely says no when I ask for more.
And I pole dance on friday nights. It is a really really sturdy pole.
I have a part-time job working 8 AM to 1 PM Mon.-Fri. My kids are all grown, so my job pays for a cleaning gal one day a week and my stamping money plus all the little extras a girl needs.

I agree with ikimom! No debt, and everything in moderation. My DH and I each have a certain amount of "pocket money" each paycheck. We don't have to account for what we do with it. We can leave it in the bank to accumulate or take some or all in cash. I often leave the whole amount in the bank and let it mount up so I can spend it on my stamping. Of course, having a big party helps out too--lots more free stuff! It helps that I get a few dollars tips at work occasionally so that my wallet isn't completely empty all the time!
Have a rubber stamp convention coming up this weekend and I sold some things on ebay to fund my trip there. I also have a card sale once a year. Sold 300 cards last year. But if I can squeak out any money from the budget you know it goes for stamps.......that is as long as there is any to squeak out after the car parts!

My DH is off work with cancer and so my "fun money" for now goes right to the family expenses. When he returns to work, my "fun money" comes back to me for stamps. I run a in-home daycare and teach preschool, anytime someone comes extra or owes more than they contract for the extra goes into my jar for me. DH gets bonus checks and doesn't share, so these are my bonuses. He never cares and often tells me to purchase something for me. He is so glad I have a hobby that I love sooooo much. Stampin Up has truely saved my sanity since DH's diagnosis. I have my quiet time to think about anything but the next doctors appointment etc. It's my time and NO one can bother me when I"m in my room. Unless of course it's a real emergency (not I can't find my shoes) those emergencys don't count anymore.!!!!

This Kills me LOL..... Too funny. I could sell my sons Xbox and games and I would have enough money for stamps for a very long time. I might have a hard time selling a Teenager on there tho but love the begging Bill Gates LOL

3. Sell my body on the corner....okay so that won't get me ANY money
4. Sell my kids on E-Bay...okay...no one will want them either
5. Sell my kids' PS2, Gamecube, Gameboys....etc on E-Bay
6. Sell my husband's bagpipes on E-Bay
(*** numbers 5 and 6 would not only generate cash but reduce the assault on my senses)
7. Become a politician....I can then accept bribes
8. Counterfeit money on my home computer
9. Tell my son he can't play hockey anyomre (then I'll have LOTS of money)
I also work full-time, but I have an allotted allowance every month and choose what I want to spend it on. I am a hobby demo but I don't make anything as I am my own best customer. I have also saved change, moved haircuts to every 10-12 weeks instead of 6-8 weeks. I do bring my lunch everyday and save that money. I try to be as frugal as possible since I didn't have much growing up or up until a few years ago. Now I enjoy the extras that come from keeping the same mindset. I also teach a monthly class for $10 a person, the attendance varies, but every little extra helps.
I'm looking into a new source of funding the addiction: working at upcoming stamp shows. Most shows/conventions need extra people to help & not only do you get free admission, but you get paid, too! I don't know if I will definately do it or not; I am still waiting to hear the exact details for a show coming up in my area.
I sell my cards. I've sold over 200 of them in the last few months. My SIL sells them in her home state for me, and her friends are going ga-ga over them. So, I take that money and dump it all back into supplies. I just got my order of $145 from SU yesterday, and I got another $160 order about a month ago, if that! In my opinion, that's the best way to fund this very addictive habit! I am sending my SIL home tomorrow with 100 more cards to sell.....I wonder what I'll buy next?????!!!!!!

Yikes! That's like working in a candy store! lol

I've done that before. It was a LOT of fun!! I got really, really good at dry embossing one year after demoing in a booth.
"Press with your stylus tool with the same pressure as if you were writing a check..." I came up with that line in my demo and lots of the people who watched laughed.
Cheers,

My dh!! He knew what he was getting into when he married me and that didn't scare him off. LOL
But, he can't complain because he has a very expensive hobby also, he builds hot rods and sandrails for fun. And no, he doesn't sell them. He uses them all.
