Personally, it's a little one sided in her favor, in my opinion and you obviously have reservations. Also it's a fairly large trade with someone you've obviously never met. Would definitely send my red flags up.
I'd say that you need to get more from this person for what you are sending her - try to figure dollar amounts for what you are trading and what they are sending and see if it is close
I don't know that I would consider it fair/unfair. To me, it would depend on how much I wanted the other person's items. Also, unless you intended to sell some of the sets separately (in which case you could get more, but it would also be more 'hassle'), it does seem ok to me. Mainly because the sets that she is trading you for are all current, and because the Basket of Kindness was a 'freebie benefit' . JMO...I know others may not see it that way... but you asked! lol ;-)
I hope she is insuring your items as well....
The best way to do it is figure out dollar value and see if you're close or if you're close enough in your opinion.
Usually with trades you each pay your own shipping, so that's not unusual, and if you're sending that much stuff I would insure it, just to be on the safe side...
If this trade is with someone on this forum maybe you can see how many posts she's had (not that it determins anything, but if she just signed up today, it would send a red flag to me about such a large trade, YKWIM?)
I agree that it does sound a bit more favorable to her. I also would do a
price check to see how close it comes to being equal. I believe because
you would be sending more sets to HER your shpg. cost would be some-
what higher. I think each of you should pay the shpg for what the other
person is sending. Also, I think both shipments should be insured, since
there is a fair amount of $$ tied up in all those sets. Just my opinion.
HTH
Wow! I think you could sell your sets and then outright buy the sets you want and still have money left over! I wouldn't do that for a trade unless she's going to add more to it. And why would you pay to ship the sets to her? Also... do you know this person's background for trading? That's a lot of sets to take a chance with.
Have you thought about selling them on ebay? They're all retired, right?
Ask her if you can just buy the two hostess sets from her outright. The other 3 sets you want you can get from your demo. Also, as far as the hostess only sets are concerned... most demos would probably agree that they're worth no more than $20 each. Yours are worth more than hers!!!
Does not seem too even. She should offer more or you less. That's one of the reasons I prefer to stay away from trades - never feel it's exactly fair!!!!

And just because the ones you are trading are retired, doesn't mean they aren't worth as much as the current ones...in fact, on E-bay you would probably get more for them because the are retired.
I think she needs to add more to it...or trade one or 2 sets to see if she is legit! If it work out then you can trade the rest!
Trading/buying from people I don't know makes me nervous.
Well, I guess I agree that a set is worth what someone's willing to pay. I know that I have made trades before where the "worth" of what I was giving was more than what I was getting, but when you consider I was trading something I NEVER used anymore for something I REALLY lusted after, it was fair, lol!
I have to agree with Betsy. I have some sets that may be worth $25. But if I don't like them, that dollar amount means nothing. If they are something sitting around collecting dust and there are sets that I am lusting after (love that term to describe how I feel about stamps) then I might be willing to give two $25 sets for that one $20 set that I have to have.
But, again, I also agree that you could probably sell them on eBay and get enough money to buy all the stuff you want and more.
Definitely check things out if you are unsure about who you are trading with.

Thanks for the responses. I was very split on this because I just ordered the Canvas BG stamp. I already have Furnished with love and I really don't want the other 3 sets. I guess what I was thinking for myself was getting the current unmounted sets might get me a trade for something I want but then I would be in the same boat I am now only with less stamps. I kind of thought even though 2 of the sets don't have cases I can always ask a demo to get 2 cases. And a few of the sets weren't even used. So I guess I kind of knew what my response should be just wanted to make sure I didn't pass up a good offer. Thank you again.
