I have had I hard time finding the right size. I have heard there are some at my local WalMart in the business section. I haven't gotten them though I agree the SU price is high. But I always like having my envelopes match the card. If I use Confetti cream CS, I will use Conf Cr envelope. Maybe I am a stickler for details. HTH! - Ashley
I get mine both at WM and either Staples or Office Depot, whichever is cheaper at the time. I also make some when I get the right kind of catalogs/magazines to destroy :>)
I hear you Ashely! I'm also a stickler for details. I really don't want just any kind of envelope for my cards. I do like them to coordinate with the card I'm sending. I have a feeling I might end up ordering them from SU!.
I don't send out alot of cards, so a box will last me a good while.
Location: My very hot stamp room, in Phoenix! It's a dry heat.

If you want quality you will order them through SU! They are so much nicer, hmmmm, kind of like our cardstock. When you want the best, order SU! Sorry that didn't rhyme.
Walmart and Staples do carry invitation-size envies (what you are looking for). However, they are very thin and cheap. You really do get what you pay for.
If you don't care about the quality of your envies, then go that route. For those "special" cards, stick with the good stuff. There really is a HUGE difference. If you use the cheap stuff, you can make them a little nicer by stamping a coordinating liner.
I used to recommend the clear envies, but since they require extra postage (legally this is true, but my PO doesn't seem to care) I shy away from recommending this now.
Like someone else said, you could buy some patterened paper or just some nice quality (24-lb) paper and make your own.

I have been buying mine from Staples or Office Depot as they are much cheaper. I did order some of SU ultrasmooth white to try and wasn't sold on them. Having said that, they do have a wonderful smooth finish like the cardstock so if you are stamping on the envelope it's lovely, but honestly I know the envelopes always go in the garbage so I just stamp and don't worry.
I sell a lot of SU envelopes. They are the best quality for the money. SU envelopes are anywhere between $0.15 and $0.20 a piece. When you put a lot of time and effort into your card I think that your art work deserves the best envelope. It's all in the presentation !
Just my opinion.

I have purchased envelopes from Walmart and Office Max, but they are thin...I was not impressed. You get what you pay for. A week or so ago someone on a thread on SCS recommended Action Envelope...I ordered some, and they were really nice. I ordered the heavier weight and they were very, very, nice. I need a heavier weight because sometimes my embellishments will tear through the envelope in mailing. The cost was $24.95 for 250. If you want the lighter weight it was $19.95 for 250. The all have the square flap just like SU. Hope this helps....
Sharon, Could you please elaborate on the extra postage required for clear envelopes? I've never had a problem sending them with a single 37 cent stamp, but would like to know if I should be adding extra postage & if so how much.
I have never paid extra for the clear envelopes. Be careful with really lumpy embellishments-my friends did the mini clothespins on a baby shower card and the machine ripped the envelopes and the cards-the people that worked there didn't hand stamp them as they said they would. there were others that ahd been mailed at a different post office and all arrived safely, no extra postage needed.

I used to get my envelopes at Walmart, but now only use SU! If you are going to stamp on the envelope, it makes a reeeaaaalllly big difference. The ultrasmooth envelopes are just that, smooth. It makes the images on the envelopes so much clearer. Also, if you are making bagalopes, you need that smooth finish so the images are crisp! Dawn
