Default Embossing folders

Do you use them a lot for the focal point of your card, or just like for a panel or an accent piece.

I have over 20 embossing folders. I have to say, I do use the dot one a lot. Normally for a border at the bottom or as a panel to make my image pop.

I should use them more for an accent piece, but I always find myself grabbing a piece of pattern paper instead.

I use them mostly for backgrounds, or for adding texture to die-cuts or panels on a card. Personally I find the ones that are "pictures" rather than patterns harder to use, but I see some beautiful cards in the gallery.

A bit of both, to be honest. If you want some great ideas on using them as focal points, try a search on Pinterest- I've pinned some fab examples recently, to try & get more use from mine.

Also, check out this sample here, where she colored the raised areas of the image using Distress Inks - so gorgeous:

I do both also. I really like embossing on accents. Like for example, I did a card for Valentines day where we cut out a large heart. But the heart looked so plain, so I used the Flower Garden embossing folder along one side of it just to give it some dimension. It turned out great. I too reach for the Perfect Polka Dots ALOT so I've been challenging myself to use different ones.

I love my embossing folders. I emboss plain paper and DP, die cuts and punched shapes. Sometimes I will colour or heat emboss the raised parts. There are lots of ways to use them.
