There is a wonderful thread about great tips SCS'rs are passing along. I've learned some great new ideas!!
Along the same line....I wondered about what you've tried or had happen to you that didn't come out so well! Maybe we all need to learn these tips (lessons) too!
Here's mine:
After you've carefully scrubbed your Stampin' Scrub and rinsed it well and really cleaned it up nicely.....DON'T put it out on your patio table on a hot Texas summer day to dry!! I put mine out there because I thought it will only take a few minutes to dry versus half a day under a ceiling fan. I forgot about it and it was out there for hours. It is nice and warped now....but it's clean!! Lesson learned!
I have learned not to "pull apart" the guides on the corner punches. I have broke a couple that way now. You need to slide out the punch, not pull it apart. You think I would have learned that the first time. Nope, I had to do it twice!

I use blender pens a lot and as I'm on my third set, I've finally learned that it's best to keep one pen for detail stuff and the others for fill in or not so detailed stuff. That way, there is always one that is in near perfect shape. Before I would just grab whatever pen was available and use it for multiple uses. Also, have you found that sometimes you overuse a pen and the nub is just junky looking? Don't throw it away! Keep it for when you need to blend in larger objects - why ruin a better pen doing that job?

Don't use your heat gun near your embossing powder, pearl ex, glitter, or anything else fine or fluffy!
Get some tweezers to use with the heat gun--especially when embossing small things.
Remeber that the paper snips are SHARP!

Stamping while watching 24 is a no-no. I've posted this before, but while watching the episode where Tony came back my husband jumped up screaming and I got so freaked out I threw up my Brilliant Blue stamp pad into the air and down it came, right on my carpet! I still have a blue spot...even after repeated carpet cleanings! Now I save my coloring projects till 24...how much harm can a colored pencil do?????
Oh, and when doing the wax paper BG technique...DON'T FORGET THE PAPER UNDER THE WAX PAPER! Duh! New ironing board cover for me!

When embossing, don't lay your paper on the carpet and emboss it, burns carpet.
Plastic cloths pin will melt when holding onto paper while it is being embossed.
When not using dazzaling diamonds, put lid back on all the way, that way when you reach over your table to get something in the back, you shirt doesnt hit it and fall to the floor - FYI - lid makes a great scooper.

ROTFL - I did the exact same thing! I was sooooo ticked off! Of course, the cats were covered in glitter!
Oh, and my 2 cents? Don't leave ribbon out overnight if you have cats around. I woke up wrapped in Red Ribbon and I was so confused!

i learned the hard way not to hold on to the metal tags while embossing. of course when i burned my finger i threw the tag up and like peanut butter it landed embossed side down. i learned a clothes pen works real well for holding and the wood doesn't get hot.
don't keep your stampin mist spray next to your glitz spray (identical bottles, glitz pray is like pearl ex in spray form). i spayed the glitz in my scrubber and it took awhile before i figured out why my stamps where stamping irridecent. then i had to try to clean out the glitz from my ink pads....now i store them separate and i have big reg Xs on top of my glitz (so i can try to remember not to use it for cleaning).

These are all so funny! I am a 24 watcher, too!
Clamshell stamp pads are not for stampers with toddlers. The new and improved stamp pads are much safer to leave out.
Don't let your toddler hold the ribbon at the store unless you are sure you want to buy it.
Only let your children use one set of stamps that you don't mind if the wood is stained.
Always double-check that the stamp you are holding is turned the correct direction before you stamp the image directly on the card you're almost finished with. Thank goodness for layers, right!

I can't watch 24 while stamping because, well, drool and ink just don't work well together. Mmmmmm.... Kiefer.

Don't use the arm of a fabric recliner, either!!! The only saving grace of this faux paus was that it was the recliner in the game room and not the "good furniture"!!!
bob barker would be glad, we don't want unwanted glitz roaming around! ;)
sorry, that just made me chuckle when i saw it!
here's something my friends and i laughed about when stamping last night - if you are embossing and decide to "blow away" some of the excess powder on your paper, turn away from the table and the entire dish full of embossing powder. much less messy that way!
it's ok to laugh!!! that was funny. spRayed glitz....

That would be the part of the reason I own so much ribbon! You think I'd figure it out...and I also hate handing it the clerk all covered in drool...YIKES!

LOL...also, when using dazzling diamonds, don't let small children see it. I guess the sparklies convinced my little one to dump out three before I figured out I should put it up. Also, don't aim rubber scissors at skin between thumb and finger...lol.
Ummm...don't buy things just cuz your other stampin buddies have them. Lord knows I have so many things in my craft room that I have never touched, but bought cuz the "cool kids" had it!:p
Don't leave open stamp pads right next to the stampin scrub when you go to spray the stampin mist, because if the nozzle isn't quite straight, and you spray all over your stamp pads, it makes the ink run.
Also, make sure to double check, because even after you ask Mom (in my case, you can substitue your favorite stamping partner) if she cleaned her stamps and she says "yes" it may mean, "I think I did". Marvelous magenta flowers don't look quite as cute when they are stamped right in the middle of your Summer Sun stamp pad.
This thread has made me laugh out loud. Glad I am not the only spazz.
I have been seriously laughing hard reading this thread. My DH thinks I'm really weird laughing while reading. I do it while reading a book, too. He thinks it's just me. But I'm not alone!
Don't leave your stamp pads laying open on your desk if you are over the age of 45, no telling when you will remember what you were doing and wander back and if the kitty beats you back you will end up with kitty paw prints all over your desk. Good thing I like kitty decor.
Oh another one. Don't leave your spray adhesive in sight of teenagers who don't quite understand what the word adhesive means. As in " Mom! there was a giant hairy spider on the floor in your stamp room but I killed it with that spray adhesive stuff you had in there!" And I don't mean she squished it with the can!
That was a fun mess to clean up!

These are killer! I'm so glad I'm not the only dork around here!
Make sure that you move the stampin' scrub away from the CS you are working with when you're cleaning your stamps after using craft ink. Though, I guess if you want the small speckle look to the CS, this is another way to do it!
don't use Dazzling Diamond a minimum of 3 weeks before any important event. my DH kept seeing sparkles on everything!! including luggage, important papers, and faces. We were in an airplane weeks after I had used Daz diamonds and my DH looks over and says I have sparkles on my forehead.
don't leave black ink pad open on your desk as you are finishing your cards. I made a stack of holiday cards, was really tired and managed to drag or drop 4 cards on the black pad as I was putting them away.
oh there are so many, but like a good joke I can't remember them on the spot.
my 2 cents? don't put open stamp pad to the side of you while you continue to work on your card, forget it's there and stick your arm in it. i had basic black on the underneath of my arm and everyone thought it was a bruise. what a dork.
