I was looking at the Michaels website and it looked like they were carrying Copic markers in some of their stores. Has anyone seen any? I'm sure my store will be the LAST one to get them. There is still a graduation stamp in the dollar bin from the class of 2006!!
All the Mikes in my hometown of Oklahoma City are carrying a limited selection of the Copics. Since Oklahoma is smack dab in the middle of the states, we are sometimes slow to get new things that show up on both coasts, but we got 'em.
Here, they are keeping them right next to the registers. Probably since they are pricey and would be quite easy to "lift."

I found some at our M's in the section with the colored pencils, etc. Funny thing is they had only 2 of each color! Not like they sold a bunch already as they were rubber banded together this way.
We have a new Big Michael's that opened last week Friday. They have Copics. Our older smaller store did not. Maybe they only plan to stock them in the larger Michael's stores

They are $6.99 each but likely won't last long at that price as there is a new price increase Aug 1. I got two today with two 50% off coupons. They were out of many of the colors and they don't have a lot to begin with. I put in an order to Carpe Diem last week, I think, and they were in my PO box today. Beautifully packaged. $3.95 each and free shipping with an order over $50.00. I got 17. That's my first order with them and I'm impressed.
Haven't see the copics in my Michaels...but we have 2005 graduation stamps in large supply! I am really not a fan of mine and the stuff is all dated and old... If I want anything from this decade, I go elsewhere. Sad.
sambini.....you are soooooo right ! maybe there is a bunch of procrastinators who had kids graduating in '05 in your area?
i used to run to Michaels with my coupons and now only stock up on B plates, reading glasses, $ stamps and the occasional pad of paper.....and sometimes the coupons get tossed after they expire on my kitchen counter and never make it to the store.
Here in Bloomington they aren't carrying them yet but do have some copic flyers laying on a shelf with the art pencils. None of the 4 employees I asked knew what a copic marker was, but didn't think they would be selling them. So, I guess I will continue to stalk. And amazingly we also have the 2005 graduation stamps! LOL.

Ours is carrying them up by the registers. They're keeping the AirBrush kit (#3) and the refills (not in stock yet) by the pencils. The AirBrush kit had already been opened...
Yes, the Michaels where I work does sell Copics. We just got an email saying to take whatever remaining pens OFF the shelves. Some stores in my district have had the entire stock stolen from the shelves. Totally gone! So if you can't find them in the store, ask a sales person or mgt., they might have them locked up. Isn't this a shame. I know at least l/2 of my stock is gone and unaccounted for!
the one in Avon, OH has them. I thought the price was $7.99 and I almost fainted. At $6.99, I cannot justify spending that much on a marker. Depending on who checks you out, I can sometimes use more than one coupon so if I had a few 50% offs, I probably buy them there. If you are familiar with Pat Catans, I've seen them there too but at a cheaper price. Of course, no coupon though!
Did I see someone say there is going to be a price increase on Copics? Any idea when?

I am pretty sure the price increase is in August. Lots of the online retailers (oozak.com, merriartist.com) have been sending out notices about it.
Our local LSS carries the copics but I notice people "trying them out" in the store. If I am spending that much on a marker I want an untried one, thank you very much. So I order online.

We have a new Big Michael's that opened last Friday. When I went there on Monday I asked a clerk if they had Copics . She said yes and took me to a secluded area in Fine Art supplies. I suggested they move them to near the registers because they would be too easy to steal here. She looked at me as if I was strange to suggest that. I thought, give it a week and when they are all gone they will move them. There were a lot of empty slots already on Monday. Some times the clerks don't realize it is in our best interest they carry things we want to buy. If too many are stolen they may stop carrying them.

My Michael's has them. They have a display, pamphlets and the airbrush systems in the fine art supply section. The actual markers themselves were up near the registers. They only had the sketch style and they were 6.99 each.
I know that 3 of the Michael's near me has them. But I won't buy them from them. I can't afford to pay that price. Even using a coupon. I want more than one at a time.
I have a line place that I can buy them and with Great Shipping and Customer Service.
I happened to go to the Michael's near my house today and asked about Copic markers. The third salesclerk actually knew what they were! He said they should be getting them in within the next two months. So despite our ancient collection of stamps, we are getting something new! Just wish the price was more reasonable. It will be interesting to see if ACMoore eventually gets them too.
Great news to hear... this just means another knife into the backs of the privately owned, small stamp and scrapbook stores! :(
Tammy I am sorry you feel this way, but a lot of us don't have a local Scrapbook store. I would love one , but the closest one to me is 38 miles away 76 miles round trip . That would be 3 gallons of gas at nearly $4 a gallon. Michaels is 7 miles away.
When I lived in Ohio I shopped at Marcos all the time. That is a one owner store.
It is nice to be able to see things before I buy them instead of needing to shop on-line

Michaels in Springfield MO has Copic markers in the art department. I read on another thread here a lady bought a couple of markers at her Michael's and they were dry. Some of the ladies thought they were dry because everyone had been testing them. Last night my DH was reading a Copics pamphlet. All over the pamphlet were scribbles from people testing them. I never thought about testing them and draining the ink. I am guilty of it too. I used to test them at Hobby Lobby.
Micheal's in California does carry Copic. The selection may not be as grand however; they do carry plenty. You can see the availability chart on the Micheal's website. The great thing about the store carrying them is the coupons! They had a 45% sale on them yesterday and I ended up paying a little over $3.00 for ea.!!!! You can't beat the price!!!:p
All over the pamphlet were scribbles from people testing them.
I picked up an old catalog and thought the same thing, until I looked at it more closely. People hadn't actually scribbled all over it, the cover was designed to look like they had. At the time I thought that was very strange marketing.
Someone suggested using the 45% off art supplies coupon last week to purchase the copics at Michaels. I did just that. I spent about $115.00 after the 45% off but I have every color that Michaels carries now...lol
blessings.
Not all LSS's carry copics, so, if this is a way for more people to get exposed to the markers and try them, why not? When I bought mine, I knew they would be an investment and I shopped for the best prices. I started off with all the Ciaos and ended up getting them directly from Japan, since it was the best deal! I have since gotten all the Sketch markers I've wanted here at good deals as well, with free shipping. I support my local stores for most things but in today's economy when I'm spending that kind of money, I'll go where I can get the best deal, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
