I don't mind the double mounting simply because it's a little less wood being used...every little bit helps. And if it's a little room saved on my storage shelf, that means I can fill it with a new set, right?
There have been a lot of inquiries to SU about going clear, and as mentioned above there is no plan to switch from rubber. One of the explanations demos were given is that polymer material hasn't met the standard they want for their stamps. So it seems they have looked into the option, but for now and decided against it.

I sure hope they don't go clear..... though i must say if they do they would be the "good ones" as I like to say...
though I really prefer rubber and IMO, if you trim close and use clear block, it's almost as easy with placement as a clear stamp
though on the other note, would be nice to get unmounted, and even if there was no price break on them, I just feel sooo wasteful not using the blocks
I don't think SU will ever go to clear stamps but, like many others, I hope for unmounted in the future. I love clear stamps (the good kind, not the cheapos that don't ink well) and prefer them these days, but unmounted rubber is fine too.
At one time SU DID have 2 options so they seem to know how to accommodate for that.
I use almost exclusively clear and unmounted--I unmount my SU. Nothing beats good quality clear for easy of stamping, storage, organization, and positioning. I have never had any trouble getting just as nice an image with clear. You do have to know how to use inks appropriately with them, but it is a very easy thing to learn.
I am new here, but I recognize many names from blogs and am noting that so many of the people objecting to another option are demos. I just wonder if they are trying to protect their current investment. Just an idea.
My SU demo unmounts hers and is thinking of quitting if they don't give UM option with the next catalog.

I prefered wood mounted rubber before coming a demo, and it's part of why I like SU.

Me too...I tried the clear and just didn't like them. Plus I kept "losing" them because I didn't put them away right away and they'd get stuck to something else!

I don't consider my stamps an investment . . . just pure fun and enjoyment. And I don't get that same enjoyment from ANY clear stamps. I have plenty of the "good" ones and they're still not anywhere near the quality of rubber. JMO.

And many more posters are not demos, lol. I don't see where being a demo is the common denominator, more like being rubber lovers is. I have clear stamps, I even use them from time to time. But I do prefer my rubber. And I'm quite happy for SU to continue providing stamps in rubber. I'm just as happy for Papertrey to continue on with clear, and I have absolutely no intention of petitioning them for a rubber option. Gina K can continue selling her unmounted rubber, and I doubt I'll start clamoring for her to sell them to me mounted on wood.
I hope not. I do like to see where my stamped image is going like the next person, but there is NOTHING like a SU wood mounted stamp. Long live the wood mounted stamp.
I plan to stop buying completely from them if they don't go to clear in the next catalog. I have not bought stamps in years and since PTI has good cardstock and inks I have pretty much gone that way to begin with. SU is far, far behind the times.
I prefer wooden rubber stamps and hope that SU does not move to clear stamps. That might end my addiction because although the images are cute, I really dislike working with clear stamps!

I wish they would offer unmounted stamps with EZ Mount already adhered or that came w/ EZ mount. That would make me more likely to order.
As it is I order VERY few SU stamps anymore. I am an Amuse girl, plus a little PTI and Crafty Secrets. I also wish Amuse would offer unmounted rubber, so I am not just picking on SU here.
