I rarely mass produce anything. I haven't actually sat down and made cards just to send out this year. I am just using the cards I've made for challenges and such.
It can get tedious at times, but I try to break it up and not do a ton in one sitting. It is faster than doing various designs. I'm not a quick designer at all.
...with the same design, same image, same pps and sentiment? I just can't mass produce them like this - get bored doing it. Maybe I have too many Holiday stamps I want to use - too many options. Or just maybe I'm trying to make them too involved. I've got to get busy - I've made just TWO!

I too have this problem! And, as a result, I get very little accomplished. I know it's because I have too many ideas that I want to use. I hope other readers can give us some helpful advice.
Its not a problem, I just don't do it. LOL Most I can normally do is 5 them I am too bored with it. That is why I have avoided card swaps for a year or so.

Last year I made all different cards and it took me forever!! This year i thought I would try making them all the same. After the first few I started changing the CS colours and then it was the background stamp and then.. well you get the idea!! Out of the 40 I made only about 10 bear any resemlance the the first one I made!
All of my christmas are different. If I really like a design then I will make about 6 of that card and then change it again.
It keeps stamping fun & interesting for me.
I like the planning. Design the card, figure how many sheets of each color cardstock, etc. So I don't mind doing a lot the same. This year I did 65 for Mom and then 20 for me. Mine were way more complicated and pry took as long. But I just worked like 1-2 hours at a time.

Not really because I don't make all the same. Each 25 of them that I do are all different. Yes, it would get boring if I made them all the same. I like to try new and different things, so this way its great for each of them to be different.

I mass produce my cards every year. Some years it can be tedious, but if it is, I move onto another step. I had a hard time with a layout this year, if I had to think of several, I would lose it I think!!
Nope, no problem at all for me. I'm making 75 right now, exactly the same. Doing it the mass production way, I can jump from stage to stage if I get bored. But honestly, there's something very calming about the repetition.
I'm just getting ready to start a card order for 150 (!) of the same card. You get used to it after a while.

I feel the same way. I always make multiples of any cards that I create, only for Christmas the number is larger.
I also like to crochet, though, which is also doing the same thing over and over. But I promise, I'm not a boring person at heart.:mrgreen:

I hate to make lots of one card.
I'll make about 50 cards this year and all but maybe 4 or 5 will be different.
(and I only have 4 or 5 the same right now because I made a card that I love so I whipped up a few more)
I am trying to make 4/5 of a kind's. I keep one for myself. Colors and verses may be different though. Think I'd get pretty bored with ALL the same. So doing 4 or 5 per month is easier for me
I know I already answered however, there have been a few nearly snide comments about mass producing not being "creative" - I have to disagree - otherwise there wouldn't be limited edition prints of artwork etc.
I find the creativity is in gathering all the elements together the assembly process is the same no matter what.

Some people can get into a groove and mass-produce cards; some people can't. I certainly hope no one was being snide or even "nearly snide" here.
You're right about creativity...it's in the original idea, no matter how many copies of it are made.

I have no problems making all the same cards. I love it! But I know a lot that don't do this for their Christmas cards. It is just easier for me. I usually pick out a stamp/ stamp set I am going to use and I order the cs and pp that I know I will use and the just figure out my design and make a bunch. The only time that I will make different one's is when I run out of what I had.

This year they are all the same, the ones I did not send out or finish from last year. :rolleyes: I could see myself doing a few different ones for next year tho. I think doing a few a month is a great idea, I sent out at least 75 each year.
I can't mass produce them either. I usually make around 40 cards and have 6 or 7 designs. I usually make 4-8 of each design depending on how time consuming and how much I end up liking it once it's all put together!

The most I'll make of the same design is about 5 or 6 and then move on. I only made 70 cards this year, so not too bad.
I got married in July and after 250 invitations exactly the same, I don't think I can mass produce like that again. Well, unless someone paid me really well.
This year I only made 30 cards (2 designs) but normally I make 10-12 cards each- using 5 different designs. I'm not in the Christmas spirit too much this year!! Maybe it will hit me later on in the month.

I would rather slit my wrists than mass produce cards. I make all my cards during the daily challenges and they are all different and fun. I never feel stressed when I build up my card list that way.
I'm with you, Kittie. I actually make Christmas cards all year long. My sister and I make about 90 cards for the residents of my mom's assisted living facility, and for the most part they are all different.
Mine are all the same. If I did different designs I'd spend months trying to figure out who would get which design! As it is I over analyze them and the "more perfect" ones are reserved for "more special" people (like my Grandma).

I hate mass producing. I normally do 4-5 designs and split those among the # that I need for that year. Like this year I need 60 so instead of 5 designs I am doing 6 designs with 10 of each designs. That is as close to mass production as I get. I just get too bored doing all my cards the same.

Until this year all my cards were different, at the most I'd do two of each design. I couldn't stand making the same card. This year, I didn't have as much time to work on my cards so I made 3 designs and just went with the one I liked the best and mass produced it. I love my cards this year, and I did make easy changes like changing the colors, using a different patterned paper, or putting the brads in a different place. That gave me enough variety that I didn't feel like screaming when they were done.
Another reason that I think mass producing worked better for me this year is that since getting my Cuttlebug my cards are much more detailed. It just made more sense to cut a bunch of circles with my Nestabilities at once and then put everything together.

I usually make about 80 cards each year and have a hard enough time coming up with one I really really like, so I'm with the group that DOES mass produce. I do it in steps and it is fun to watch the progress of the piles, lol.
For the last 3 years I've been making about 30-40 different cards. I am going to put a note, as a reminder, in my "Christmas" storage box not to do that any more. What happens is that I get compliments from the receiver but then I have to ask which one I sent them. lol. Another thing is that I tend to get carried away in the embellishment department then I worry if they got there in one piece or if there was enough postage on the envelopes. Next year I'm going to keep it neat and simple... I think.
I like sending all my friends the same holiday card...as much as possible...
that way when they visit each other they can see that they all got the coveted artwork by me for that year ...
I know whatall I have sent, and
i can get lost in the process of making them.
the problem is that I did kinda get lost this year and I am pooped...
so I think they will be snowy nature cards ... that way I can put Happy New Year on them...

I'm in the process of making about 110 cards nearly the same. I've broken it up in stages so no sweat.
I started off making different cards for different people but that was really time consuming AND I never could remember what I sent the previous year. Now I know what I sent so life is good! :mrgreen:
I agree! I make 60 or 70 all the same and do it over a month and a half or so. I am lucky, my DH helps with cutting and punching - since he is retired and I am not! I want to know that each year the card is completely different. I have not purchased any new Christmas/holiday stamps for a couple years or more, and when I can't think of a new design, I'll sell what I have on ebay, or trade with friends, so all will be new and different.

For the past 2 years, I would make different cards with no replicas. (I rarely make a replica card anyways...that way they are definitely one of a kind!)
This year, I'm short of craft time, and work holiday doesn't start until the 20th! So I am replicating some, but still have 5 of one kind, 5 of another, 10 of another...etc. I have too many great Christmas stamps to use to make just one type of card!
The monthly CC challenge makes it a lot easier. This is what I did this year. I used It's Snow Time as many months as possible. Each month I came up with a different design. What I have been doing lately with cards that aren't for Christmas is make 6 at a time. Here's an example: I used the cone flower stamp from inspired by nature. I made 6 each of 3 different designs. Each design used 1 of the flowers. I plan on making 3 more designs using that stamp. That way I have 36 cards, with 6 different designs. I can package them in sets of 6 with all 6 cards being different, but coordinating.
What I found works best is to make 1 card first. Then cut all of your supplies to do a mass production. Once all of your supplies are cut and images stamped, all you have to do is assemble. And by doing 6 at a time, you don't get bored.
I am a mass producer!!! I have been making my christmas cards for a couple of years now. I always make 7 of each design, and about 20-30-different designs. I give 2 to familu and sell the other 5 of each group or use them for classes.
I have only mass produced 20 cards for soldiers...but I am going to make 80 for 50th anniversary invitations. I have 4 months to get them done so maybe it won't be too bad. I usually make just 1 or sometimes 2 alike. I decided I would make 4 or 6 card sets for some Christmas presents using the same papers, but different designs...even then I got tired of the paper combination before I finished each set. Guess I bore easily. Wish me luck on the invites!

I "mass" produce, but personalize each with color or something else. Like several of you, I make almost 100, and the first year (way long time ago) I tried making them all different. OMG...what was I thinking, and then I couldn't remember who got what. So same card, basically, different stamp/theme/technique for each year.

I am definitely a mass producer. When my husband was a commander on an Air Force base I made 350-400 each year. It has always been easier for me to just make one card style. The last two years, I have tried making 10-20 of 5 different cards, but I can never decide which ones to send to which family member or friend. I made 60 cards this year, and if I need more I have a few left from previous years that I will use.
Like someone said previously, I am calmed by the repetition and the action of stamping. I love looking at the finished product too, and gets done so much faster with only one design!

I can't mass produce. So I make them as I go. So I start early.The most I've made, identical, was three and it was an event at my upline. I get bored. Swapping with 15 ppl at the most is tough, I can't imagine making Christmas cards in mass and the same design.
I get tired of making the same one over and over, I get bored and lose interest. So I come up with a few (3-5) designs and swap out stamp sets and colors. At least I feel challanged while making them and they dont get set aside never to be finished because I am tired of looking at the same exact thing over and over again. The most I make that are identical is two that way at least I know that 8 1/2 x 11 sheet I just cut does not end up in the scrap bucket, which is another project all its own!!:rolleyes:
