If you cover the part of your stamp that you do NOT want to stamp with scotch tape...then ink up the other part, pull the tape off (as it will have ink on it)---and stamp. Good way to do it if you dont want to cut up your stamps.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who performs "surgery" on her stamps. Once I got over the "blasphemy" of the first one, I don't hesitate to cut them apart. I get so much more use out of some of them. I like to do scenery stamping, so I like to put together different elements myself, and cutting makes that easier.
Yes, Wilma, I have a block big enough to hold the roller stamps mounted on cling. I had one cut at an acrylic shop. He only charged me $8 too! It's 7 1/5 inches by 2 1/2 inches. The business made acrylic display cases and he used a scrap. Check your yellow pages and see if you can find a similiar business in your area. Anyone else buy one ready made?
Thank you so much Linda! I will be checking into this. I never use my wheels, but I think I would use them if they were unmounted.
Maybe I should ask for 7 1/2 x 2 1/2...I'm not sure what 1/5 of an inch is. Since it's 2 1/2 inches wide, it will also accomodate the jumbo wheels. Thanks so much!

Someone on another thread mentioned that they use the "C" plate from their Cuttlebug to stick the unmounted wheels to - double-duty and FREE (if you have a Cuttlebug)!
I've only just started cutting stamps up (other than ones I was remounting--mostly just cutting off excess background). I cut the inside of a postage stamp one (valentine theme) out to have just the frame. Not sure I really like it though. I also cut the sentiment off a Hello Kitty stamp.
Stacy, your cat looks so much like our granddaughter's cat that she could have posed for your picture. That said, I also have been known to cut apart or trim stamps when it suits my purpose, but I usually use markers on flower stems

We got him from the animal shelter. He was found in the woods by himself if I remember correctly, so he may have brothers and sisters out there!
I usually cut apart the ones with sentiments and image. I haven't cut a lot of flowers and stems because it seems like most of my flower stamp sets already have them separate, or they are small and easy to use markers on.

I think that you would need a stamp positioner for the stem if you do that second, right. I have not tried it, but I don't have a stamp positioner, and think I probably could line them up pretty good.

I trim my stamps so that the stem image is exactly at the end of the stamp then I know that the placement will be exact if I align the edge of the stamp at the stamped flower base.
Trimming close to the edge also allows me to mount several individual stamps on one CM block to make complete image.
Apple Pie Memories has one, I got it on ebay for around 11 or 12 bucks?
I emailed them and they responded with a quote of $5.75 with $2.50 shipping...do you think it's the same thing you got? I want to be sure it is nice and will work well. He said it's 7 1/2 x 2 1/2, and 1/2 inch thick.

I've done this for years...most recently, I separated a row of (clear mounted) teacups...the trick is to cut them apart in a way that I can place them back into the exact row when I need to, ususally by making a small jag in the otherwise straight cut.

That should be the same one. I really have no idea what I paid, I just remember it wasn't too much.
