I've seen several people talk about how much they love their score-pal. As with all tools, I know some are better than others and that I can be all good and well with my Fiskar's Cutter with the scoring blade but.... Do I NEED the score-pal? I'm planning to get a bind-it-all this month because that I can't do with anything else. I'm wondering if I need the score-pal too? Does anyone know if you can get the score-pal at Archivers?
TIA!

the scor-pal is awesome....I am so impressed with how professional the folds look when using it. I love how easy it is to make a quilted background, embossed lines OR how easy it is to create simple box shapes---(I used to shy away from these things but this tool really makes it EASY!)

I have had one for over a month and so far havent used it one time successfully....I am just a complete idiot because I can't figure out how to use it and everyone I ask says it's so simple...the measurements just don't make sense to me...I am afraid that may just be me though:rolleyes:
Jimmi - make sure they didn't give you one with the metric ruler on top. I didn't buy one but a friend of mine did and when it shipped, it did not have the correct ruler on top. They sent her a new one and told her not to worry about returning the first one so, bless her, she gave it to me. It is hard not to have the measurements to line up to but otherwise, I LOVE IT! I have started to mark with an indelible marker the basic measurements I need, especially when I was scoring nugget boxes. It is quick and makes wonderful score lines. Don't give up on it. Mine is currently buried under a stack of papes (yes, I need to put them away!) and I get so frustrated that I can't just score my cardstock there. Maybe tonight I'll get it unburied. I didn't think it was a must have but now that I have it, I couldn't do without it.
Yes, you can get it at Archiver's. Yes, it's available online. And do you need it? Well it has become a staple in my crafting repertoire of must have tools. Clean, crisp scores, super lightweight and easy to use. If you like to make accordion cards, tag books, gate folds, etc. then the huge advantage is not moving your card stock for additional scores.
In the last couple of days, I've done two very easy basic tutorials on it on my blog. I really like it. I love how it scores textured card stock and how nice and straight the lines are compared to other types of scoring products.
My opinion- yes, of course you need it. LOL!

I don't know if you need it or not. I'll put it this way though...I don't have one. I do however have a Cutterpede that has where you can exchange the cutting blad for a scoring blade. However this doesn't always do the straightest line. The Scor-Pal looks like it does a precise job every time because you can't move anything other than your hand...KWIM? Your not depending on anything else so I'm definitely looking into one

Do you happen to know the cost at Archivers? I'm thinking about getting it while I am traveling on business. (The best reason to travel on business - so I can go to Archivers!) Is it small enough to fit in my mostly empty suitcase? (I take the big suitcase just so i can bring back all of my purchases!)
I'm also thinking about getting a Bind It All. Anyone happen to know how much they are at Archivers?

Well retail price is always $39.95, but I believe Archiver's offers discount coupons like Michaels does. I don't know for certain as Archiver's isn't located out here in the west. And while I haven't seen your suitcase, I can't imagine it not fitting in there, they just don't take up a ton of room, maybe 13 x 15 or so and about an inch deep. It does come packaged with a lightweight chipboard backing and clear plastic cover, changes the size a bit, but not much.
I have no clue about the BIA at Archivers. They weigh a bit though, about 8 pounds or something like that.
The regular price at Archiver's is $39.95, but they've been having 30% off coupons in their mailings the last couple of months. I just got a mailing today that has two for March. That brings it down to $28. I bought mine with a coupon at Archiver's. While I don't *need* it (doesn't rank up there with food and shelter - tho' it's close!), I do love it and use it every time I stamp.
I was gonna say, look at Gina K's blog for her awesome tutorials and then decide if you need it. They show things that you can do with it other then score the fold. BTW, the tutorials are awesome with step by step pictures and the nice full card at the end too. Go look, you'll have to have it.

I have a Scor-it. I use it on virtually every card in one facet or another. Usually I just use it for the basic card score, however, it makes really cool background patterns and even cooler boxes
I LOVE my Scor-Pal. If you make a lot of boxes and things, you will love it too. I have a cutterpede where you can take the blades out but this way is so much faster and so much more precise! If you make a lot of cards it is a must have!
Do youneed it, probably not. Will you be happy with it if you get it, definitely yes! I have the Fiskars cutter w/scoring blade, and could never get a straight score. Now that I have a Scor-pal, I get beautiful, straight scores every time. The folds are so much nicer, too. You can get it at Archiver's with their coupon, which makes it worth the money in my book.
I think you need one only if you have room to leave it out --- I have one, and I hardly use it because I have the Fiskars score blade out where it is more handy. It does make a nice fold, though
Well, I don't have one but after reading all the positive comments and visiting Gina K's blog and checking out her tutorial I will have one by tomorrow!
Sure you do... I just added one to my collection of things. I even got the cool tote to go with it. I bet Ill love it when I actually get to use it one day!

Oh, I don't agree with that at all. Let me rephrase that, it makes a great fold or score. I do disagree with the comment you have to have room to leave it out. I keep mine upright in the bookshelf where I keep my stamp sets and such, and just pull it out when I need it. It weighs next to nothing so I can grab it with my pinky if I have to. No changing blades, it's always ready to score when I need it to.
I would say that yes you need it. I also have a bind it all because there really isn't anything else like it. But the scoring blade on your paper trimmer is nothing like a scor-pal. I've had mine for about 2 months and I use it EVERY time I make a card. I've also been able to make so many other things, because I have it.

Honestly I'd talked myself out of it a lot. Then The Angel Company started selling them and I started to see more of what they could do. I must say it's really impressive and I love that I can easily make my own envelopes.
I'm also super excited that I got it as a half price item.

I keep mine upright as well! It's right there where I can quickly pull it out for one card or for several folds. I love the fact that the Scor-Pal is so lightweight and easy to handle!
Oh no...I have been sitting on the fence about this for weeks...I feel a trip to Archivers coming on once I have dropped the little people at preschool in the morning :-D

They are $39.95 regular price at Archivers - I am patiently waiting for mine!! I sent my son (who is a college 90 miles away) my 30% coupon to get me one. He had to use it before 2.29.08 when it expired. He went to the Archivers nearest him and they were out - they called around to other stores and finally found one at the Mall of America. He went and picked it up for me and is bringing it home this weekend = yeahhhhhhh....I can't wait to use it. This month I received two 30% coupons - one is good until the middle of the month and the other from the mid to the end of the month. What a sweet son I have!
I was one of those who skeptics who held out forever -- I'd been using a ruler and stylus forever to make my scores . . . simple, quick, easy, comfortable.
Well . . . I used my coupon at Archiver's last month and it was SO worth it! You get the best folds on cardstock (MUCH better than any way I'd used previously), it's super-easy to use and it really doesn't take up much room -- I just keep it leaning against my table so I can grab it and use it. I can honestly say that I wish I'd jumped on this bandwagon much sooner.
