Heart Distress Embossing Powder Help

Hi everyone...I'm having a problem and hoping someone can give me some pointers. A few years ago I purchased some of Ranger's Distress embossing powder. I tried to use it today and ended up scorching my paper due to overheating. I held the heat gun on too long because I couldn't see the embossing powder melt (or change at all) like I usually do with other embossing powders. I went to Ranger's website for help, but apparently the Distress embossing powder has been discontinued and replaced with Distress embossing glaze. I just need somebody who has used the Distress embossing powder to let me know how to use this correctly, so that it will "melt" so i don't continue to overheat or underheat and have the embossing powder wipe away after failing to "cook". Thanks so much to any or all who can help!

It's nothing like regular ep. It was discontinued a few years ago. Here's an old video with Tim showing it:

Be sure to shake it well before each use and stamp with the wettest or stickiest pad you have.

The Distress embossing powder is fun to use, but it's not "Pretty". It is not like the Distress embossing glaze, which is smooth and translucent, but not clear...it has the color within. I think the glaze is not a replacement in my mind!

I have some jars of the Distress EP that I've never used so this is so helpful! I know I would have had a lot of problems if I hadn't watched the tutorial...because I would have tried to use it the way I do regular EP. Thanks so much!

That was interesting. He did not prime first with powder which is also different. Thanks for the link!
