Default Digital scrapbook pages and kits, how are they made??

I see these digital scrapbook kits with paper, frames, elements, etc., etc, all over the place. How are these made, I wonder? Is the person actually creating this art and packaging it in kits or are they getting the elements and stuff from some other source and putting it together?

Like this as one example:

Sweet Pea Designs, Making Memories Last

There are so MANY of them, I just really wonder...??

Most of these are made by designers (people who are graphic artist, etc.) I do occasionally see some that are vintage clip art (free or otherwise) put together in a package. It's not really legal to take images from other places and repackage them to sell as your own.

I use to design digital scrapbook kits and I use to "make" all of my own designs from scratch. There are resources for digital designers to use pre-made elements as well. Some of the elements are created from photos, high resolution clipart, scanned drawings and elements, etc. The designers use graphics editing programs like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, and GIMP.

Not all designers do this. Most designers that I knew, and myself included, actually designed their own stuff. Most of the designers take pride in doing it themselves.

The site that the OP pointed us to does in fact buy layered templates, it is becoming the norm these days. Not saying it is a bad thing, I have bought plenty of digital kits that were made with templates. I don't know if the papers are templates but most of the embellishments are. I made some digital papers once too lol, decided it was too much work and now I buy them from others.

I have made my own digi kits for years, even before it was popular. I use a variety of graphic programs. My favorite programs are PaintShop Pro and Gimp. A lot of scrapbook digi designers love PhotoShop Elements. I also make a lot of my own templates and die cuts. My favorite program for that is Inkscape. I also like Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator.

Serif has a line of graphic software programs that are out of this world. Serif produces a digi scrapbook program called Craft Artist that can get your feet wet into designing digital scrapbook pages. I highly recommend it.

Here's the pro version- The perfect software for crafting on your computer – CraftArtist 2 Professional from Serif
Here's the free version- Download free crafting software – CraftArtist Compact from DaisyTrail

A lot of times you can buy angel licenses from artists to use their images in kits. You buy the graphics with the license. I own quite a few packages.

Most of the time I design my own images.

How can you tell they are buying layered templates?

I think I could manage to make digital paper also, but seems like too much work considering how cheap it is to purchase digital paper!

I can tell because more than one site sells the exact same things just different colors.

How did that become such a huge thing? I don't scrapbook, just make cards, but I see them everywhere I look! With that much competition... I wonder??
