I just spent a small fortune (at least to me it's a small fortune) on the entire set of SU! makers and I have to say, yes, I'm a bit disappointed. I can't say I really "needed" the markers, as I already have 72 Marvy markers.
I had been wanting the SU! markers for ages and finally took the plunge. Maybe I had built up my expectations too high.
Here's what I don't care for about the SU! markers, the caps are the same on both ends (so it's hard to tell fine tip from brush tip at a glance) and the printing is so so so so tiny I have to really squint to read the name of the color, plus the label is in THREE (count 'em, THREE) different laguages (what's that all about?).
Oh well, I was obsessing about them for so long, nothing could have prevented me from purchasing them. But, to be very honest, I really prefer my Marvy Markers.
There is a thin line and a thick line on the barrel of the marker to show which end is which for the thickness.
Sorry you are disappointed. I am in love with mine.
ALL the new packaging has 3 languages, FYI.

Actually, if you'll look at the ends, near the caps, there's a line wrapping around the marker. On one end, the line is thin, on the other end, the line is thick. So you can tell at a glance which end is which.
As for the languages, that's a requirement for their products now that we've gone international. It's the reason the ink pads don't have the color names on the ends anymore, too, because there's no way to fit the name in all the required languages on that small little end!
OH, doh, yes I can totally see the thick line and the thin line on the barrel of the marker. That helps ALOT!
One of the things I really LIKE about the markers is the awesome case they come in. I just love gazing at it sitting on my table, all ready to be used (or not) at a moments notice. "Queen of all I survey" :-)
I bought mine individually and don't have a case. I think I prefer it this way because now I have them grouped in color families, so I really don't have to guess what the color is. I've had other markers in the past, but it's so easy to grab a marker and know that it'll match the inks and papers from SU.
Does anyone else have a problem with the points going soft on the newer markers? I never had that happen before this year and now I've had to replace several. It was nice of SU to do it, but now those replacements have the same soft points!
Is it me????

Ah, but your Marvys don't coordinate with the exclusive colors of your SU! cardstock! ;)
I love having the ability to easily ink up part of a stamp, or coloring in an image and having it go perfectly with the rest of my design.

I have two sets, and the other 2 arriving soon! I LOVE being able to color parts of the stamps, and also to write inside the card and address the envelope in matching ink!!!! Hope my EE and RR markers arrive SOON!!

The brush tips are made of felt or a felt-like material, so they won't keep that perfectly sharp point forever. I angle my markers to the side when I color with them, both for better coverage and to help preserve the tip as much as possible.

In Canada products are required by law to be labelled in both French and English. I'm guessing SU is also selling in a country where Spanish is one of the official languages.
Sorry to go off the subject, but Coletta, I noticed you live in Streetsboro. I am in Copley, just west of Akron. I actually lived in Streetsboro about 10 - 12 years ago (Portage Pointe, I think it was called, behind the Kmart plaza, if that is still there). Small world!
I have had all the markers for quite a while and LOVE them. I use them a lot.
off subject also!! tsboughton....I live in Medina!! Go to Montrose and Fairlawn all the time!! small world!

Love my SU markers!!! Got rid of all my others not long after receiving them. Love the case, love that they coordinate with my paper. Give them time... they will grow on you.

I LOVE my markers...I just bought three color families and I've used every single one of them in the three days I've had them! Okay, I haven't really, but it sure feels like it!
On my ink pad holder, I have slots for the matching marker and re-inker, so getting them all at once just to get the container didn't matter to me. I use the thick end to color stamps and to color in images and then I use the thin end to write in coordinating ink on the inside of the card and to sign the back.
Don't give up on them yet!! Play with them and get a feel for them, and if you still think they are poo, trade them on b/s/t!

Hi....Portage Point is still there and so is KMart. Streetsboro is growing like a bad weed:rolleyes: We've been here almost 22 years......omigosh I have to cringe a little when I say that.

Hehehe.........maybe they need some Viagra:rolleyes:
I just got an email from a friendly pharmacy willing to sell me some CHEAP:eek:
I got my last family today. I've been part of the marker club over the last several months to spread out the cost and to get to be a hostess one month. I like the case. It has the slots marked on the side, so you know where all of them go. I have been using makers more and more. Now, if I could get off this site and stamp!!
You know, my friend bought the markers in the 4 color families, and was sad she didn't have the case. We were at a scrapbooking store, and lo and behold- Zig sells the exact same case! We were so excited (though she said, "too bad SU doesn't sell the case- they just lost my money.") Anyway, I love the markers and always bring them to scraps/crops and workshops, because if I ever forget an ink pad (not that I EVER forget anything-ha)I still have the color I need!!

I love the SU markers and can't wait for my last 2 sets to get here. Hadn't noticed the thick and thin lines, but had noticed that the thin tip is the English side and fat tip is on the Spanish side.

Don't mean to hijack, but the Streetsboro High football field is named after my uncle, John Glinatsis Stadium! Talk about a small world....

Interesting, Paula. Yes, I've had this happen to me, too. I think it depends on whether the tip is actually nylon or polyester? I "think" nylon is more durable and retains it's form much better, but with some of the colors of ink, it may be they have to resort to polyester because it won't flow proper out the tip????
I notice some of the sponge pads are different consistency on some colors than others--some are more firm, and others softer, and I wonder if that has also to do with the pigments in the ink formula for any given color?
I have this vague recollection of reading this type of information somewhere--generally,--not necessarily SU! specific-- in a magazine or something . . .

Omigosh...that's insane. All my kids went to Streetsboro High school and we spent many Friday nights in those bleachers.
I always wondered who the stadium was named after, now I know. What is the story behind the stadium being named after him?
Coletta
He was the principal at Streetsboro High School for years, and also the football coach. He died of cancer in 1979. I go to their senior recognition ceremony every year to give to scholarships to the winning senior girl and guy. He was a wonderful man.

I think that is a superb way to honor the memory of a loved one.
God bless you for you efforts and your inspiration.
I'm very happy with my markers. I love marking directly on the stamps. I also like the fact that the thin side of the marker is very fine. I'll sign the back of my cards with the marker and people thought I had used a stamp.
After you play around with them, you will really like them.

I got "other" markers when I was just starting stamping, used a 40% off coupon. But then, as a color would run out, I had to buy the whole set. So I got the SU! ones.
I didn't know about the thin/wide line either, thanks for that tip. I only have a few of the new design.
Are you storing your markers on their sides? I just lie my box down on a shelf behind me, I don't keep them in the whole outer case, I want to be able to grab this to use. I stand it on one of the small sides when it's on the shelf.
I don't use the thin points much, so don't know about that.....
