My C Plate just broke and I need a new on. I just called my local Michaels and Hobby Lobby and the response I received from both is they no longer carry CB supplies. Joanne is out of stock and do not know when stock will be delivered.
Is it time to look for a new die cut and emboss machine?
I just don't want to spend $100 or more, when die cutting and embossing is only what I will do with the machine.

I haven't heard anything, but I do know that the Michaels up here in Canada is in the process of greatly downsizing their already small section of paper crafting even more, at least the 3 Michaels near me are.
I did a quick check, and JoAnns's online store has the c plate on sale for $7.49.
Also available at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and several other online sites.
I have found it increasingly difficult to find Cuttlebug plates in a brick & mortar store. The replacement plates are not a fast selling item, and not trendy, so I think a lot of stores have pulled them and used the shelf space for things with a faster turnover time. Just my best guess.....
Forgot to check EBay.....bet someone has one for sale there, too...
Good luck finding a replacement, I know how distressing it is to have a plate break. Because it has happened more than once, I always keep an extra plate on hand. It really cuts down on the stress, I just sayin'!

Are they downsizing, or just "clearancing" out stuff to update the department? That's what they did at my local Michaels. They have a ton of new stuff from their Recollections line - ombre inkpads, waterbrushes (a pack of two - one with a chisel tip), stamps, etc. They also started carrying a lot of mixed media stuff and the newer Tim Holtz products - the mediums, a pack of distress crayons and I forget what else. I know some people on SCS managed to buy a couple of the Crazy Bird stamps, but that's been out of stock at my Michael's both times I've gone since the revamp. Try back at your stores after a couple weeks - hopefully they're doing something similar!
I love my CB! I bought it 11 years ago and it has been a faithful workhorse. I have never had a problem with it. I had to buy a B plate once because I made too thick of a sandwich and forced it through, breaking my original B plate. I also bought a C plate, both from Amazon. I hope CBs are not going away! They really are a simple, affordable, great little machine.

I've had mine that long, too, and I still use it on almost every card I make, either for die cutting a mat, or embossing. I've had no problems with mine either. I've replaced the plates, because I do a lot of die cutting, and have a couple in reserve, just in case.
I got it at Michaels with a 50% coupon long ago, and it was the first real "tool" I got after my paper trimmer.

Use mine frequently also--and with limited space, I'm glad it's compact and easy to store. But I'm bummed they've never come out with a magnetic platform-that would be helpful when using all those dies/framelits.

I've had mine about eight years and it's going strong! I use it almost every time I make a card too. I think I'll buy a b plate or two. I have all the original plates.
I really love the minty green big shot with the flowers. I want it for a backup if my bug dies. I don't want to test fate by having a replacement waiting for the death of the bug! I'm always tempted to get that pretty BS before it's no longer available but I'm not one to duplicate supplies.
I love my bug!

I think that we are just going to have to do more shopping online for supplies. My Michaels does have some new stuff, but they have definitely downsized the stamping department in general.
I purchased the new Anna Griffin flip card kit, and the dies require the 13" plates. Those were the least expensive at HSN because of the price and lack of shipping costs for this month's craft purchases. I have bought my A, B and C smaller replacement plates via cricut.com because they weren't available locally. I use my cuttlebug one way or another as I craft. That newer Big Shot plus with a wider plate bed may have my name on it for later this year.
Just ordered tonight the C plate at Joann's for $7 and free shipping!

I have a CB but barely use it now that I have a big shot. I actually just need to sell it since it hasn't seen the light of day in about two years. I like the stability of the big shot more.

I used to have a CB and it was great, I only bought a Big Shot because I had signed up to be an SU demo. After using the Big Shot I definitely liked the stability more, so I sold my CB. I always keep it set up at the side of my craft table anyways, so the portability of the CB wasn't a benefit to me. As far as them discontinuing it, I don't think so, I agree that brick and mortar stores probably just don't want to take up space with the plates.
I don't think CB is going away. Its just that Michael's and other craft store are getting into newer machines & dies & supplies in general such as Stampendous, AI, RangerInk etc.... so they won't be carrying CB supplies in stores anymore. I spoke to the store associate at my location
I LOVE my CB!!! I have had it for nine years and it is still helping me make cards every week. I have a BS as well; yet I have only used it a couple of times as I love the compactness of the CB so much! The BS takes up so much room!!

I feel the same way! I got a Big Kick a year or so ago when it was on sale at Tuesday Morning for only $29!, to have it in reserve when my Bug finally quits. The Big Kick is still in the box, waiting.

I love my CB and use it practically every time I craft. I hope that the bits and bobs won't become obsolete, but I might just pick up some extras for myself just in case. I've had mine for almost 10 years and I've only had to replace the boards 1x because I fed something too thick through it and it broke it :( That being said, I'm also on my second CB as well. I used to have the original green one and then last November when I was making some Christmas cards, I broke it right down the middle and had to replace it....now I have a black one :(
I have both the Cuttlebug and Big Shot. I haven't used my Big Shot yet. I bought it because so many of the Stampin Up dies and new EB folders are wider. When I get around to using them, I'll need the Big Shot. I do the my CB though. I use it a LOT.
May I jump in here. I had to order two B plates and I went on Amazon. I ordered them but also I noticed when I googles it some scrapbook stores came up with some.
