I notice alot of people cut their cardstock in half portrait style, instead of the landscape style. What is your preference. I have always cut it in half the landscape way (cutting at five and a half inches) but just started cutting the other way at 4 inches.. what do you prefer?
In all honesty it depends on the card design. I use the traditional cut more often then not, but I have been using the landscape style lately because they are easier to photograph for my blog.
i tend to cut potrait style (at 4 1/4 inches) more often, just because i display a lot of my cards for sale, and my card spinners are portrait style - they look better! but I also save on my ribbon if i want to wrap it around the card (only 8 1/2 inches vs. 11 inches to go around the front & back of the card -
plus, i just think it makes it a little more trendy...
I agree that portrait-style is now more popular, and I too like it. But the fold is more difficult going across the grain of most paper, so a good bone folder is necessary to make it look smooth and nice.

I frequently make my cards the tall way for the simple reason that my desk is so cluttered that I don't want to swing out the extension on the paper cutter!

LOL! Sounds like my desk also!
I tend to cut mine portrait style -- but mostly because I get stuck in a rut!
