Is there a trick to getting the polymer stamps to line up nicely?
I got some frame-type images but I am having a hard time keeping them in the nice shape they are supposed to be when I put them on an acrylic block.
Any hints?
Melanie
With stamps that are likely to bend out of shape (a frame or long thin sentiment for example) I usually peel the stamp off the backing sheet and put it face down on a piece of paper then place my block on top to pick it up. If it looks like it's out of shape when I lay it on the paper, I can just nudge it in to line before I lay the block onto it.
I've found with stamps that need to be straight, two possibilites.
If you have a cutting mat with a grid printed on it, what I do is lay my stamp face down onto that, then line it up square using the grid lines, just pushing it into shape. Then I press my acrylic block down onto the stamp, and pick it up that way.
The other option, if you have a stamp positioner is to use that to square it up. I definitely find its easier if you place the stamp face down, and press the block to the stamp, rather than the 'normal' way.Hth
Just writing this, and when I posted it, I saw Joanne had given exactly the same answer!
Someone somewhere mentioned dropping your clear image upside down on your tabletop, then setting the block onto the image. Lift. Should be aligned perfectly, and ready for stamping.
Try letting the stamp 'fall' face down onto a flat surface then pick it up with your acrylic block.
This should prevent the stamp from becoming distorted.
If that doesn't work place the stamp face down on the acetate sheet that came with the stamp, nudging it to match up with the printed pattern. Pick it up with the block and carefully peel off the printed sheet.
