Default Clear envelopes

I'm at work and just received a car ad in the mail...in a clear envelope with tiny words on the ends "USPS Approved Poly." I went to USPS.com to search 'Poly envelope' and got no results. The material of this envie is heavier than the clear envelopes I have, and now have heard they are not acceptable for mailing. Does anyone know about this? Or where to buy "USPS Approved Poly" envies?

Google this: "clear poly envelopes USPS approved". Lots come back. The first one on the list is ClearBags - Promote, Protect and Preserve -- I've ordered from them several times and never had any issues. Lots of other vendors too.

I use less thick clear envelopes all the time and have never had an issue.

As long as the envelope follows the rules (readable address, postage), it's "acceptable"... you would not believe the kind of stuff that goes through the postal service. There are helpful things you can do to improve the chances of the envelope going through without a hitch. For clear envelopes, that would mean putting the address on a sticker, or somehow making sure that a barcode reader can read it (high contrast, like black lettering against white, neatly handwritten instead of messily scrawled).

I ordered my clear envelopes from Amber Shaw. Great prices. Great customer service.

I typed the name and address on a piece of white paper the same size as the card that will go inside the envelope. But where do I put the stamp? On the outside like a regular envelope?

Yes, on the outside of the envelope so it can get 'cancelled.' Never use Scotch tape to adhere a stamp, that covers it so it can get cancelled with their printing.
