Square. But that is a totally personal choice. FYI--I really like the design of the SU punches, but I also like the multiple sized and shapes of the Creative Memories punches. They have 4 sizes of each shape.

Circles are harder to cut by hand, but I love the ease of the square punch!
i know I didn't help you a bit here-I guess i would say, save your $ up and start buying 1 or2 an order.
I heard there may be a "tag" punch in the new catty, so get your circle and square punches now!

But the CM punches don't go as far in. You have to punch a square pretty close to the edge.

I would personally buy the circle punches ONLY because you *can* cut a square by hand. I can't cut a circle by hand and I regret getting the squares first. I STILL haven't bought the circles!

Circles, because you can use the paper cutter to make squares.

Although, either set will be fun to play with, so I'm really no help.

Default Circle or Square

I opt'd to start with the circles, figured I could easily cut a square myself. I now have both and LOVE them....but if you are thinking...what to start with, my vote is on the circle.

I tend to use my circles 1st but still LOVE the squares as they are great size for glitter wondows. I guess I use my punches more for making a square/circle in the card than I do for actually using the punched out shape (if thet makes sense! LOL)

A benefit of the square punch is you can lengthen your window from a square to a rectangle like below

ummm-I am of no help! LOL

both! but really I agree that you should get the circles first. you can cut squares easier if you need to, but circles are too hard!

I'd say to get the circles first. Especially right now with all the dots being in style and since they are more difficult to cut by hand and look nice.

Love your card. Thanks for posting it. I really love this set...I think I need to order it from my demo.

Also I am waiting for the back ordered punches...I can't cut straight line either. I have a circle cutter...But it would be better if I had a couple of punches.

Bet you don't need your sunglasses now...do you?

I agree exactly with mamak's logic. I just got my circle punches yesterday so now I have both.

I opted for the square punches first. Now I decided I probably won't get the circles because I have the CM cutting system with the circle templates. I love their cutting system!

How far into the paper can these punches reach? Right now I have some CM one's and they don't go in very far so I can't really use them to make windows in cards. Can anyone help me?

Personally I use the squares more than the circles. So that would be my vote.

I have never gotten SU's circle or sqaure punches, but I do like CM's punches. I agree that they don't reach for window cards. I would suggest just measuring out the squaure from the edges of your card and use an craft knife and ruler (as a straight edge) to cut the square. It doesn't take that long and you will have it exactly centered too!

To answer your question about square or circle....look at your work. Which shapes do you favor? What is the trend? I personally like having both for my very whimiscal moments. ;)

I'm a puch addict so I have the SU circles, SU squares, and I have the CM hexagon punches ( in terms of simple shapes). As a personal preference - I like the SU punches better than the CM punches.

If I could only buy 1 set now, I would buy circles becuase you can cut squares. I love to popup circles.
