The initial price is really good on those envelopes.. but I checked the shipping for one box and it's $8.78 plus a $3 small package fee. One box of 250 envelopes is $22.31 total!! Yikes! I think I'll stick with my OfficeMax envelopes. I just hate it when shipping charges are so outrageous!
Also note that the $8.67 is per box for a case of 5. $43.37 plus $11.90 shipping. Although that figures out to 4 cents per envelope. Too bad they don't offer free shipping over a certain dollar amount. (Or maybe they do and I haven't found that yet.) LOL
You may want to check around outlet type places - Dollar General, Big Lots, etc....I bought a bunch of boxes (of 100) for $1 a box at Big Lots one day...
I also buy from www.clearbags.com - go to the Ashley Colored envelopes - they have Bright white (like SU WW) and Natural (Like SU Ivory) - they have a staright flap in the back...the more you buy the cheaper they are - however on this site pricing can get a little high - I usually wait until I and other friends need a bunch of stuff (they also sell clear sleeve, cehckbook covers, plastic boxes you can put 6-8 cards in for gift sets) - their other site is www.clearenvelopes.com and they have a flat shipping fee

I know you want cheap, but I can vouch for the superior quality of SU's envelopes. They are far better than any I have run across. You really need to watch out for sloppy gluing on the cheapo stuff--sometimes the flap will stick to the card inside--who wants that? And I have had cheap envelopes split apart over time as well. Yuck! Not worth the pennies saved.
So I vote for SU. You know somethin' special's inside when you get an ultrasmooth envie!

I had a friend whos father owned a printing company that went out of business and I cleared him out of a bunch of boxes of envelopes. I am short on storage space and want to clear some out if you are interested...I have A6 size in off-white color and a white with grey flecks and notecard size in a really nice brown, ivory and grey. No white though. But, they are excellent quality and very heavy, similar to SU. The ivory ones are also like a weave, i guess. Really nice. I have no idea what to charge for them but maybe you want to make me an offer? I'd even trade for retired stamp sets you want to unload...
Staples has invitation-size envelopes for $16.98 per 100 on their website. I'm planning on stopping at the store near me next week to buy a box because it's convenient.

Office Max has a box of 100 basic invitation envelopes for $7.99 and a box of the 100 redi-strip (pull the strip off for a self-adhesive flap) for $9.99. (The redi-strip ones are my favorite as I hate licking envelopes.) ;)
Have you tried maybe a paper store near you they should sell envelopes also. The one here in Phoenix is called Papers Plus. I buy with a friend and split the envelopes brings cost down for me! Good Luck!

I just did the math on that, and you are paying the same amount or more for these envelopes than you would for Stampin' Up! envelopes. I was in Staples the other day and I just could not get myself to buy these. They were very thin, and not nice or smooth. Plus, I can't do the triangle edge thing. I guess I am just an envelope snob. I stamp matching envelopes for all the cards I make and give away so I NEED to have a nice image.

That's where I got mine too....I thought that was cheap.....is it??? And I run a comparative shopping group at work too....bad me.
I use Wally World envelopes all the time and I've never had one card come back and marked that the person didn't want it cause it was a cheap envleope!!
I vote for the walmart envies too. My friend got some and they seem great. I got mine from SU, and I love SU, but I didn't think their envelopes were that great. Now I haven't tried the ones since the new catty came out so I don't know if they are the same or not, but I got the white ones, and you can see through them! I don't mean like glass of course, but you can see basically what the card looks like through the envelope. If I wanted that, I would get some clear envelopes. lol;)
I bought a case in February, and gave 1 box to a friend, and still have 3 unopened boxes. It ended up costing me 53.00 for 1250 envelopes, but I think that will last me 2 yrs.
Shipping is a bi**h, wish companys would jack the shipping prices up soooo stinkin much

Depending on how many you order, the price keeps getting lower at Actionenvelope.com.
They have a wide variety of colors, styles and sizes. I like the #7 envelope for making a vertical card like this... Girlfriends Forever. In fact, I bought a humongous amount of that size.... cheaper of course. Now I just have to make 500 cards, or is it 1,000?
What I did, was I carefully unfolded envelopes in a range of sizes, traced them onto card stock and cut them out. Now when I want to have an envelope in a matching paper, I use the card stock ones as templates. When I glue them I use Granny Stovers glue (same as YES). You can even glue the flap, let it dry, and it will become sticky again later when you wet it.
The other thing you can do is go to your local Hallmark, Carlton Cards, etc. stores and ask them. They always wind up with stacks of extra envelopes. Some stores sell them in bunches and others just give them away.
Hope this helps.
