Default Chalk Ink Help

I bought some chalk ink cat's eyes to try on my clear stamps. Do they have to be heat set? I've only used SU ink.

Chalk inks don't need to be heat set - they dry almost instantly.

Pigment inks are the ones that need to be heat set (or set aside for a good amount of time to dry).

They will really stain your clear stamps though. It doesn't harm the stamps or effect their ability to stamp. Some people aren't bothered by the staining, but some folks really don't like the staining, so I thought I would give you a head's up.

I have tried the chalk ink and I really don't see much of a difference when the ink is dry.
Can someone tell me what the advantage of using chalk ink would be.
Thanks for the help.

When you use it on a smooth surface it really does give a chalky look. The colours aren't as intense as pigment inks, I don't think, and you definitely can't use them to stamp successfully on darker papers. I find them great for solid images and for sponging edges because they dry so quickly.

They blend beautifully with a brayer for backgrounds and give a lovely velvety finish. Because they're a hybrid ink, a light colour will show up if you stamp over a dark colour too. I love my chalk inks!

I am a chalk ink fan, too!!
I like them, also, for stamping on fabric. (pre-washed cotton)
Because of the drying time I find them easier to use than pigment inks. Also I find the ink comes to the surface of the pad easier than pigment inks.

They work GREAT with the colored pencil technique (I use baby oil) but not with Copics or other alcohol markers.

I have the full line of Colorbox Fluid Chalk inks in both the full size pads and the cats eyes...they are my go to ink for clear stamps. I have not had any problems with them staining my stamps. They go on so creamy and give really great impressions. I think yo will love them once you get an opportunity to work with them.
Blessings.

If you clean your stamp right after stamping it the staining is minimal - BUT if you leave the stamp sitting with the chalk ink on it it will stain it quite a bit.

Palette inks also stain clear stamps quite badly. And no it doesn't affect the stamps ability to stamp - they just don't look as nice!!

I like chalk inks for their smooth finish and even coverage on solid stamps - and like Julesiana mentioned they're great with the prismacolor pencil and gamsol technique.
