Perhaps I missed seeing this on SCS: Caroll Duvall died July 31 at the age of 97. Old stampers will remember her from the long running craft show on TV. Just how many people were enticed into exploring stamps and related paper crafts by her enthusiasm? I wish there were someone like her or Dee Gruenig for TV watchers to follow now. There are no end of targeted TV programs for other interests, but the craft seems rudderless and has long-standing companies like Heartfelt Creations and Ellen Hutson disappearing.

Awww I loved her show (and all the other home decor, gardening and craft shows that used to be on HGTV). The glue guns are heating up in heaven. 97! A blessed life for sure.
I loved watching Carol Duvall. I have been crafting most of my life. I began making doll clothes and at 10 years of age I made my first dress and there has been no stopping me since then. My mother encouraged me to try all different forms of making crafts for home, clothing and gifts. I learned a lot from Carol Duval. May she rest in peace.

I remember her. I must have seen her or else saw her books. I see she has a season on Discovery Network or possibly be able to purchase it. May she rest in peace.
Oh wow.
There are a bunch of shorts with her on You tube.
I hope she had a comfortable, fun time in her later years. She gave so much pleasure to so many people.

I loved Carol and her shows. I was invited to be a guest on her Christmas Holiday Workshop. What a wonderful experience. I was an audience guest for several of her Christmas Holiday Workshops. Also I got to meet Dee. Both women were outstanding and so gracious..

Sad news. I loved her show on HGTV! She was like a television pioneer doing craft segments on local tv in Michigan in the ‘60’s. Now she is our Angel crafter.

I remember seeing her segments on other shows and watching her shows. She used to have Tim Holtz on there when he was starting out… They both certainly inspired me to stamp…. Prayers for her family and she will surely be missed!
I found her series on Discovery last night and watched for hours. She was a big influence on me for knitting as well as paper crafts. Have to admit the 80s styles are now quite amusing. Godspeed to Carol.

I loved to watch her, and yes, I recall her introducing a 'newbie' Tom Holtz. I'm going to see if I can find her old shows - and will definitely check out You Tube. She was such an inspiration... and 97, wow. I miss all those old Cricut commercials too - the world certainly has changed. Thank you for letting us know about dear Carol !!
My mom and I watched her show and Sewing with Nancy and cross stitched. She was in a precious lineup with Jacques & Julia, Murder She Wrote, Magnum PI, Hart to Hart, Simon & Simon, Moonlighting.
I didn't have a TV until high school, so this stitching time with my mom was the most time we spent together.
I remember catching her television show occasionally. One memorable show — she was showing Martha Stewart how to do some paper craft. Martha had difficulty with something that didn't work out. Carol told her to just do it again, it's only paper. That line has saved me from many hours of anguish over the years. She was so instrumental in building the popularity of paper crafting.

I remember watching Carol and a guest that were trying to do something with Heat and Bond and they just couldn't get it to stick. They kept ironing and ironing and it just wouldn't stick. After a commercial it was revealed that they had forgotten to take off the paper backing before ironing it on. It was the most hysterical segment ever on her show. A true artist with a great sense of humor.

I was just thinking about her recently, missing her show, and wondering if she was still alive. My mom and I spent many happy hours watching her. I still use her tip of sticking a straight pin into the backing on adhesive tape to pull it off when you don't have fingernails. She had the warmest, fun, down-to-earth spirit about her. Thank you, Gypsy Rose Stamper, for posting the information about Carol.
What a nice tribute. I loved watching her and yes craft TV shows and even the small mom and pop craft stores are gone. Prayers for her family. Rest in peace Carol.
She was indeed an icon, and so motivational. I would watch her show whenever school was delayed or cancelled, and when I retired, I couldn't wait to watch her show each day. Her show ended soon after my retirement, and I have missed that enthusiasm ever since.
