I've never been to Hobby Lobby and was thinking of going today because I need some die cut letters for a poster for my son. Anyone know if I can do that there? Otherwise I need to find a scrapbook store that does, and that might take a while...:(
Ugh. Thanks for the responses. I just need 4 letters. Why, oh why haven't I purchased the Big Shot alphabet dies already?! This is the second time I would have used them for a poster! ;)
Why don't you just use your computer and print out a font that has outlined letters? You can print it onto your card stock and then hand cut them out. Since you only need 4, it won't take long.

I've never seen a die cut machine to use at Hobby Lobby- it's set up like Joann's, Michael's, ACMoore, etc.
You know, now that I think about it, AC Moore used to have a die cut machine in-store, along with a bunch of dies you could use. A loooooong, long time ago. Does anyone else remember this? What ever happened to that concept?
I think this is a perfect reason for purchasing a Cricut! Isn't your son worth it? ;)
Hee hee hee! This is just the type of rationalizing I do all the time! I think I'm putting those Big Shot dies on an order right now. I'll get 3 SAB sets anyhow, right? ;)
do you live near anyone that can do it for you, I know if I was near you I would be happy to help out ....

KatarinaM.....I do demos and classes in my local ACMoore store and have also in 2 others and never have they had a machine that customers could just come in and use.
They want to sell the machines, letting customers use machines even for a fee would defeat that purpose.
Cool idea, but not in my area AC Moore stores.
Perhaps a local scrap book store might let you for a fee.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll probably end up doing this just so I can pick the font and the size. :-D I could print them out, lay them over the cardstock I want, and then cut them out, couldn't I?
I bugged a friend to cut some letters for me a few weeks ago, but I didn't realize her dies were lower case and smaller than I expected.
Do you have any large size alphabet stickers that would work?
I also happen to have sheets of alphabet letter punchouts. The letters are approx. 1 1/4" tall, numerous patterns--cheetah, leaves, flowers, stripes, solids, raindrops.
If these would work for you, what letters would you need and how soon would you need them?

The Archiver's near me lets people use many of their machines. They have a room set up for crops that's used casually by scrappers/crafters who just come in for a bit to spread out and get some work done. You do need to buy your paper & materials there. I think it'd be okay if you brought in something special they don't sell, but the rule (and I don't know if it's written or unwritten) is that users of the scraproom buy their materials at the store.
I was a guest of a friend the only time I've worked in the room and I don't know the specifics, but there are ladies in there working almost every time I'm in A's.

I would guess that the policy is that if you buy the paper there, there is either no charge or a very minimal charge to use their machines. And, conversely, if you don't buy your paper there, then the charge is a bit more. Something certainly worth looking into.

Check and see if you have a local scrap book store. They just about always have a back room for scrapping filled with die cut machines and all sorts of other toys.
none of our large stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels....give access to a die cut machine; But the Archivers, and one local store both have access to one depending on the store--one charges per hour, the other only makes you buy the paper.
Or, if you call around your friends, someone may be able to he,p you out.

Aw, thanks for the offer, Brenda, but this whole project is last minute. His teacher sent home a paper Friday about him being student of the week starting on Monday! Yikes! We crafty moms need a little more notice than that to make it spectacular, at least I do. Especially since it's Sunday afternoon and other than buying the poster itself we haven't even started.
