Default burlap, canvas,crinoline

I see so many flowers made with these fabrics and I am wondering if any of you stampers have made them yourselves. Are there any tips I should know about before I try to use my punches and die cuts on these fabrics? I really want to make flowers using these fabrics. Thanks for your help.;)

I haven't made flowers from any of those particular fabrics, but fabrics in general work great for flowers. The only thing is, you won't be able to use punches with fabric but dies work great! Have fun with it.

You can use steel rule dies to cut thru fabrics and make flowers for instance. The steel rule dies are strong to cut with (like the tattered floral by alterations Tim Holtz, or other Sizzix dies..)

I can answer to burlap having made some flowers with them lately. The Bigz dies work well. I saw a great hint to stiffen the burlap with glue first. If you stiffen the burlap your flowers look like this: Burlap Vintage Flowers they will not fray and will hold their shape better. For a more "grungy" look try the burlap without stiffening first (this is actually a larger weave burlap to start with as it is from a coffee bean bag from my future sil's work place) Queen suen CASE. Both cards have links to tutorials I found helpful.

Crinoline is great for flowers, cut with dies or scissors. Crinoline flowers can be dyed with markers, re inkers and ink pads. Glitter and glitter glue are great on crinoline flowers.

She has other great stuff, too.

Gail,

Both of your cards are beautiful. I like the flowers done both ways. Thanks for sharing,
Ellen
