Me too. I signed up after falling in love with SU stamps from buying them on ebay. I signed up under a lady I bought some retired stuff from on ebay and she sends out emails but no pressure. I was clear I was strictly hobby. I do sell to a few friends (at my discount) but the rest of the stuff is ALL MINE!
I am teaching some cardmaking classes in my shop but most of the people have no clue I am even an SU demo.
Yep, at me to the list. After buying way beyond the mins for lots of years, then moving to another state, I decided to be my own best customer. I have a few friends that order once in awhile, but otherwise it is all me. I love the discount, love being able to preorder stuff, and see things first. SU stills treats you like any other demo.
I'm sure I'll be my best customer as well.....but hey, if we're gonna be an addict, we may as well have a discount source ~ teehee!
Congrats. Be sure to get signed up before the 3oth to take advantage of the special going on right now.
My husband was ok with me signing up and I was just going to be a hobby demo and I have a workshop booked already!

Someone please give me the low down on what you have to do. How much is the kit? I know you get a discount this month. What comes in the kit. Maybe I will do it too.

I pretty much signed up for the discount and now I'm trying to do at least one workshop per quarter to make min. I started a marker club, no one was interested in the cost to do it 4 months so I spread it over 8 months with 8 people.... It comes out to like $182.00/month so for 2 quarters you totally have your mins met. If you start on the last month of a quarter then you would only to need order a small amount yourself to make that quarter, you have the next 2 covered and then the last month would be the beginning of a new quarter so you would only need to add a little bit to make that quarter as well!
Does that make sense????? It's just a thought if you have friends that like SU. I know some people get together every month when orders are due but I don't they send me a check, I send their merchandise. Every month someone new is the "hostess and gets the bennies"... Most of this group is across the state from me so my mom sorts the order each month and delivers to save me from shipping to everyone individually.

The kit is $169 through the 30th. If you have a catalog the last page shows everything included in the kit. Off to look for a flyer to send you...

Actually, if you sign up now, you have until the end of March to meet your minimum!
I am a hobby demo, too! I would love to get a few customers, but it's mainly me. :-) I hold cardmaking classes at my house to make a little bit toward my minimums. I was spending close to the minimums, so I figured, why not? I don't know how long I'll stick it out. Depends on if I find a few people who would help me meet the minimums. I'm not particularly interested in making money at it, I just want lots of SU stuff! :-)
I've been a hobby demo for 7 1/2 years and only had a problem getting my minimums once...when I had my knees replaced and wasn't working my part-time job for almost 4 months. I have a wonderful upline who always includes me in everything but has never once pressured me to do more than just what I'm doing. I've considered giving up my demoship a few times, but then a new mini comes along, or the new big catty comes out and I just can't give it up quite yet! I have a feeling I'll be around to get that 10 year pin!

So very blessed and so very thankful.

Yep, I just signed up late last month. So I have yet to place an actual order under demo status, but I'm definately working on putting one together to place by the end of the month.
Once I found out how much I had spent since I was first introduced to stamping this last January......I *HAD* to sign up. I'm thinking I made the right decision for myself. Good luck with your decision!!
Thanks to all of you for your great advice. I contacted a couple of local demos - left messages, e-mails - some didn't respond so tried the one who has her own website. She's abolutely perfect, no pressure for more than minimum and keen to help with techniques and advice. So...... I've just signed up.Hehe. Now waiting impatiently for my kit.
Thanks again,
Karen
Congratulations! I know you'll have a wonderful time with all your new "stuff" and your new upline sounds great. Don't forget to sign up for the Demo side of SCS when you get your demo number.
I joined just for the discount. Plus, I was already involved in doing demos of techniques (not for a company, just amongst people I know) and people are forever asking where I got this or that, and I was always sending them to different shops or companies, so I decided to join SU so I could say 'you can get it from me!'.
Wow, I am surprised how many of you are hobby demos. The discount sounds great, but there is no way my budget allows for $100 retail/month of stamping items. (Especially since I am not particularly brand loyal)
Congratulations, Karen! It's great that you found an upline who is a good fit for you. Sounds like you'll be stamping buddies. Enjoy! And be sure to join the SCS SU demo forum after you get your demo ID!
I just browsed through your gallery and your cards are fabulous. I love that little tote and matching card. Got some good ideas, too.
NSR: My nephew and his wife live in Marietta and really like it. They work for Lockheed and Coca-Cola respectively.
Aw! Thanks Kiko! Thanks for looking in my gallery ... it's been a bit neglected lately thanks to too many work obligations but I hope to get some stampin' in over the holidays!
