Default Baby Shower Invitation Etiquette

Hi all! I'm from MI and I am throwing a baby shower for my friend who lives in FL. All of her family lives in MI and since she will be flying up here we will need to send a lot of the gifts down there via UPS. I know that there is a way to order the items and have them shipped to her at her home. What is a polite way of stating that she requests the gifts to be shipped down to FL? Or what about asking for gift cards?? I just don't want it to sound rude or to make anyone feel uneasy. Is there anyone creative with wording out there that can help me with this?? :0)

Thanks a bunch!

ask the mom-to-be what stores are located in FL.
then your shower guests can purchase giftcards to those stores,
and she can buy what she really needs for the new baby. (esp. the big items);
some smaller gifts, like onsies, receiving blankets, etc. can be packed in a suitcase, and she can check that suitcase on the plane.

Default be prepared to ship stuff back!

Good luck with this one!

I found that my friends and family really wanted to see us open something, so be prepared for gifts and not just gift cards. I suggest NOT registering for big things, or you'll get 2 humidifiers and stuff. Also check out what the return policy is at the stores at which she is registered. Some will only accept a limited number of returns even if you are registered there.

My aunts in TN went together and bought our playyard, I picked it up WA, and took a picture of it and brought the picture to the shower. Not quite the same, but still nice.

little clothes and soft things are always great, especially if you have a couple space bags, and vacuu-suck them down. You can get SOOO much little light stuff in a box or suitcase that way!

You could do a theme shower to narrow down what you want people to get...like a layette shower...

We had to suck it up and get a huge box at Office Depot and send it back to WA UPS ground. It cost $50 or 60, but it's so much fun opening it up and going through all of the baby booty all over again.

Good luck!
