Default Aqua Painter or Blender Pen

Okay, I have both an Aqua Painter and a Blender Pen. I find that I use my blender pen more than my aqua painter. When I use the aqua painter I end up with more water on my paper than I really want, and the paper kinda roughs up. Does anyone else have this issue? I know several other stamper that use and love their aqua painters dearly and think I'm nuts for using the blender pen. What am I doing wrong with the aqua painter? :?

Don't squeeze the aqua painter! I was having the same problem when I first got mine. I find that if I don't squeeze or grip to hard, the tip stays wet, but not excessively so.

Kristen sounds like you have too much water on your brush. I only squeeze water out once, and then I squeeze the brush between my fingers to get out most of the water and then paint. When I change colors I run the brush over a babywipe to get the color out.

I have blender pens I only used it once (that' how I knew I didn't like them)
For me it's waterbrush all the way!

I just got my aqua painter last week and LOOOVE it. I squeeze the water out once on a paper towel pick up the color and that's it. No more squeezing until I want to clean that color off. I just keep picking up color as needed with no squeezing. HTH

Here is a picture someone sent me of the same image colored with Aquapainter and then the blender pen.

Oops! It won't let me send it! PM me and I can put it in an email!

Thanks for all the tips. I'll have to give it another try. Maybe I'm squeezing it more than I think. I'll get it out and play with it some tonight and see if I can fix the problem.

Oh, I have also been told that I can refill my blender pen. What do I use? :? And how in the world would I refill it? It doesn't seem to come apart.

I love the blender pens and the aquapainters but I was having the same problem as you when I started, I had to much water on the brush as everyone has mentioned, I have also found that if you use the confetti cardstock (with the aquapainters) it helps alot b/c it is more suited for the watercolor techniques than the ultrasmooth. I almost always use glossy cardstock with the blender pens.

Default aqua pen or blender pen

Just a tip....I use a wrist band (like in tennis) on my wrist when I "blend". It is so easy to just reach over and wipe. Just make sure you get a soft terry one so as not to ruin your pen. Also, the tip of the blender pen you can pull out and turn around.

I LOVED my blender pen... that is until I broke down and got the aqua painter. The aqua painter is so easy to use and gives more of a water color appearance. I don't think my blender pens will be getting as much use now that I have the aqua painters.

having the same issue as you and after reading this I will go hoem and try these suggestions becuase my blender pens were far out-weighing my aqua painters at this point. Thanks for posting, now I will see if I can LOOVVEEE the AP as mush as everyone else.

I've loved my Blender pens since I got them years ago. I had to purchase another set last year. Since signing up I knew I had to give the Aqua pens a try. I just can't get the hang of them. I will have to keep trying with the ideas posted here.

Thanks for asking. I thought I was just stupid.

Default Was a die-hard blender pen user until..

I too was a die-hard blender pen user until I broke down and bought a aqua painter. What more can I say but LOVE IT! Not to mention the cost factor. I demo'd my blender pens all the time at my workshops but let's face it is so much cheaper to use the aqua painters.

It does sound like you were using too much water, I too made the same mistake. Just keep at it - you'll get the hang of it

I just wanted to let everyone know that I used my aqua painter last night without any real problems. Thank you all so much! I think my aqua painter will be seeing a lot more action now that I have it figured out!

I love the Aqua painters. A tip I learned here is to use confetti or naturals CS instead of US, then fill in the area you want to color with just water first, then pick up the color and apply over the same area. This gives a very watercolorish look. I clean the AP and get rid of extra water by stroking the tip on a clean washcloth. I hardly ever use blender pens anymore, except for when I use the markers or chalks.

Sounds like I've got to add the aquapainter to my wish list. I've been debating about getting one, now I know the answer. Thanks!

Default Me too

I too am going to have to add teh AP to my wish list. I was having the opposite problem with my blender pens, not enought juice and I was rubbing the paper too hard and making it rough. I will have to purchase with my next order. Love all the input.
