Default Anyone using the new edge tearing thing?

Or does anyone even have it yet? Is it worth getting or just as easy to tear paper with your hands?

this is my opinion, I dont mind tearing by hand alot of people dont like it, then this would be good for them.

I dont like the edge it tears, its not a soft pattern, its like scallop, I think tearing by hand is prettier and softer.

what I found is its really hard to use with cardstock and you pull so hard to tear that the ruler moves.

now lightweight paper like vellum and our background papers would tear really easy, but again I dont care for the tear pattern.

I wish I didnt buy it, 19.99 is not worth it.
but thats my opinion.

I'm so glad someone commented on this tear guide ruler. I've been eyeing it for a future purchase...I don't mind tearing, but if it made it noticeably faster, easier and just as nice I would buy it. If it doesn't work flawlessly with cardstock they should have left it out of the catalog. It's better to lose the sale to the competition than to carry an underperfoming product and have the customer be unhappy with the purchase.
I will take your word that this product leaves something to be desired and spend my $20 on some other stamp goodie.
Thanks for the honest review of this item.

Yes, thank you for the product review. I too had my eye on this new tool, but will pass to spend my money on something more useful. Paige

Yes, thank you! Anyone really like it? I will save my $$ too and get more stamps or paper.

:P Good to read all this info...I too was thinking about getting one, but now that I read these comments, I agreethat it would be tricky to tear a skinny little strip off a piece of cardstock similar to the way I do it now by hand.
Sounds like the new gadget would work better with a full sheet of c.s., where you can get a good grip on the paper and pull.
I think I will be sticking with the self-tearing method of doing it by hand.

Default Tearing Edge

I like it for tearing evenly on large pieces of CS or background paper. You can then nicely layer long strips. I agree that it gives a different look than hand tearing and takes some strength to use on heavy cardstock, but I wouldn't give up on it completely. See my website for a sample.

Default Tearing edge

Hey Kim!
I love the scrap book page with the plaid and the torn edges.... you think you'll use that tool a lot? I was sure I didn't want to get it, but after looking at your page, I might have to reconsider. Thanks for sharing that!

Default tearing edge

It's my understanding that this tool is easier to use if you dampen the paper slightly where you are going to tear it. I don't own one, so I haven't tried it.

Default Tearing Edge

I purchased the Tearing Edge. It is really great for long strips that you want fairly even. As others have noted it does have a somewhat different look then hand torn edges, but I have customers who are tearing challenged (want it a specific way and have a hard time achieving the look that they want) who enjoy predictable results. Since I own the tool my customers are more than welcome to try it for themselves and decide if it is something that they want.

Default Tearing Edge

I used the tearing edge recently and found it extremely easy to use (even on SU's heavier cardstock)! It does have a different tear pattern that you would get by hand, but you can vary it a bit depending on how you pull the paper. I will probably get one; it would be nice to have when I am doing swaps where lots of tearing is involved!

I am using the earing edge, amd find that my customers think it is really cool. I don't like the edge it makes as much as I do hand tearing, but the ease and perfectness makes it worth it. I also find that sponging the edge makes the scallop design less noticable. I also find that it is easier to be more exact with where paper gets torn. It is easy to use on small strips too.
