I trim the ones that look like they have to much extra rubber. I haven't had to do to many though. It is so much simpler now. Less time cutting for sure.
No, I haven't trimmed any of them. Over the years I've just developed the habit of stamping straight down and pulling the stamp straight up -- no rocking. I've not had any problems with stray edges on the die-cut stamps.
I'm so glad I saw this thread! I trimmed just about every stamp from my die cut sets! I agree; their die cutting needs some improvement but it was still quicker and easier than if they hadn't been die cut at all.
Bummer - having not mounted my new stamps yet, I was hoping not to trim - but looking at them initially, I was thinking I'd want it closer. After reading all the posts, guess I'll do that first and get it out of the way. Thanks for the heads up.
Wish you'd trimmed, after you got the stamp all put together?
I have. I took a single edge razor blade, and very, very carefully trimmed off the offending parts. Only go thru the stamp rubber itself. NOT thru the sticky grey part. If you do, you'll end up with stickiness on you r wood block!
I still trim them. I don't use the wood blocks tho. I take the rubber off, trim them and then put them on the cushion mount so I can use them on the acrylic blocks. I took all my old SU stamps apart and did this and store them in CD cases. Takes up alot less room. Barb
I didn't know about the microwave trick and had some stamps that needed more trimming after mounting. I used a very sharp craft knife to cut through the rubber to the wood and sliced between the stamp and wood to remove. I then removed any excess glue left from the cut portion with Undu. That way I don't have to handle the sticky stamp while trimming. Good if you just need to trim a small area or two.

I am totally in love with the SU! die cut stamps. Have not had to trim a single one. Have had a few ladies use my stamps and catch an edge but they are heavy handed stampers. A light touch, straight down, straight up, no worries.

I've always been pretty meticulous about how I trim, so the first ones I got, I trimmed them all, but since then, I only trim a little if I think it sticks out too far. I can pretty much guess how much I can get away with. And if I find I should have trimmed later, I just use a small pointed scissor to trim only the rubber, not the foam, so I don't have to remove it from the block.
yep, I trim most of them. After I caught the first edge, I decided that was enough for me. I agree with everyone else it is much harder to trim them after they are die cut.

I still HAVE to trim because I don't want to take a chance on getting the extra boo boo line! I also pull the foam off so I can use either EZ mount or Tack-n-Peel. I like being able to use acylic block so I can see where I'm stamping.
I am afraid their die cutting needs some improvement! I like a *close* trim. Yes, I trim most of them.
One of my friends went to Founder's Circle and they got to see where they manufacture the stamps. She spoke to the guy who creates the dies that trims the stamps and he said unfortunately, they can't trim any closer. He draws a line around each stamp on the computer, and that is used to create the plate that die cuts each set. I can't remember what she said that distance was, but I know she asked why they didn't trim them closer. Thought you might like to know.
Just 10 seconds in the microwave softens the glue, in order to remove the stamp from the wood.
Sorry to be so blonde but...Is that on HIGH? Afterwards, does it restick onto the wood ok or do you need extra adhesive? [I have a set I'd like to cut up and remount - I'm hoping this is the answer I've been looking for.]
