Default anyone out there make cards and sell them?

Does anyone out there make cards and then sell them? I was just wondering what the going price would be. I sent someone a handmade card and now she and her friends would like to buy some. I have no idea how to price them. If any one out there has any impute they can offer I would appreciate it. Thanks, Lorraine

I don't sell cards anymore but still do craft shows and sell other things. Most people base their prices on layers and embellishments. I have seen people charge anywhere between $2.50 and $5. Sometimes more. It will be interesting to hear answers from those successful at selling them. Good luck!

One of my stamping buddies makes and sells lots of cards, usually $2-3 depending on layers, complexity, etc. If she sells them in groups of 4 or more, there is a slight discount. There have been many threads discussing selling cards at craft boutiques and that seems to be the typical price range.

I have sold cards and I usually charge minimum $5. Mosts people feel that a homemade card is worth it. If it is really personalized I would ask more, especially if I have to buy anything to go with it. I haven't had any complaints!

Default prices for cards

I have my cards at a little shop and sell them for $2.50 a piece. I also sell them to my friends at $2.00 a piece. I tend to keep the card designs simple but still nice enough. I think I could get more but I do this more for relaxation then anything. I guess maybe you could say I'm building up my clientale and then will try increasing the price with a few more detailed cards and see how that works.

I know I have a friend in Minnesota who has paid $4.00 per card and her's were pretty simple but beautifully patterned. Hope this helped....

What folks are willing to pay also seems to vary regionally. I've read threads on SCS about this issue, and some folks who've sold their cards in two different areas have found what sold for $4 in their previous home area wouldn't fetch higher than $2.50 in their new digs.

wow, thanks for all the feedback. I think that i have a general idea of what I will sell the cards for. I usually tend to make cards that have techniqued backgrounds which take a little more time and effort and i live in the NY tri state area so i should be able to fetch a reasonable price for the cards. Thanks again! Lorraine

I sell mine at work and prices range from 4$-6$ depending on length of time to make the card and layers/embellishments. No complaints so far. They think the prices are fair and have told me the card is almost like a gift itself, which is very nice of them to say that. Don't underprice yourself.

Take a look at cards by Hallmark or in the specialty card stores that sell the 'these are meant to be cute, retro and homemade by a machine' cards. These cards go for 6-8$. I've checked before I priced mine. And they know they can go get a dollar card from the Dollar store if they want.
