I bought the very first Misti stamping when it came out. My old Misti was still working but the painted grid was wash off or rubbed off from all the years of use. I waited for the new and improved model to come out and got the newest one. I have now had the third one have a broken hinge. As you can image after the second broken one I was treating this third one with kid gloves. Yet, still today I have a 3rd one broken. My heart is broken. Am I the only one experiencing this problem???
Yes! I’m on my second one where the hinges broke. The first one was replaced by My Sweet Petunia. I will notify her of the replacement breaking also. I have definitely not abused it. I’ve been stamping a long time and know better. I thought it was just me. Thank goodness I bought the old style when it was on sale just before the new version came out.
Both of mine broke where the acrylic is at the hinge. Same spot each time. The first one 2 hinges broke. The second one it was one hinge. It’s odd I didn’t find more people with this problem when I googled it. And I say this because you had 3 and I had 2 that broke. What are the chances of that happening to just the 2 of us? I will say customer service at My Sweet Petunia is great. She answered me very quickly the first time and sent me a replacement. I have not had time yet to take pictures and email her again. But I am definitely going too.
At this point, I would ask for my money back. Apparently, this product is defective. I have several stamp positioners made by other companies, and I've never had any problems at all with them. You shouldn't have to use exceptional care either. If a product is breaking with normal and reasonable use, then it's not made well. JMHO
Yes! I just came on to see if this has happened to anyone. Mine is brand new, not hardly used and the lower hinge broke at both the plastic and metal attachment.

I just wanted you to know that they are redesigning the hinge and new ones should be available in approximately three months. There is great customer service at my sweet petunia. They get back to you right away. I urge you to contact them.

i am worried though, because I bought an authentic MISTI, but from Scrapbook.com.
i sure hope they will honor standing behind their product even though I bought it from a different source.
I wanted to come back out here and say thank you to all those crafters who shared their MISTI issues and those who helped me know how to follow up on my problem with the broken hinges. I did have to get my proof of purchase and pictures sent. Actually, Iliana had me finish breaking my other hinges and send her a picture of it! Not sure why.
But the good news I was informed my new MISTI has been mailed out to me! I am so grateful for this forum at Splitcoast. It’s the best.

I wonder if she wanted to see it totally broke and not usable. I am so glad a new one is going out the door. I am sure it will work fine. If it doesn't work well, you know how to contact Iliana and she will make it right.

I was thinking the same thing. She can’t be happy knowing there must be a flaw with the new hinges. I won’t believe it if it happens to me again. And now I think I am going to be afraid to use it!

I'm sure that it was to make it completely unusable. That way you won't purposely or accidentally pass it on to someone else to use, someone who might have been a potential customer.
Wow. I guess she doesn’t trust her customers. I would never do that. I hadn’t even planned on keeping it for myself. I don’t think it would have been as accurate with the loose hinge. Guess I won’t feel too bad if this one breaks and she has to send another...

You often have to do that in order to receive credit from your manufacturer for the defectives. I had to do that with an OXO product once - they told me it was to a) get credit and b) assure the manufacturer you weren't just selling everything on Ebay or Amazon while getting credit for a defective product. Apparently that's a thing, which is sad.

Yes, and SU made their own ink and stamps, so there was no one to get credit from.
I was about to purchase the new Misti, but if they are redesigning the hinges, I guess I should wait. But then I could still get one of the new ones with the bad hinges until they go through all that stock. Maybe I'll just wait until Fall/Winter.
