Smile Anyone color their images with chalks?

A friend of mine told me how she loved coloring her images with chalks, so I tried it. She uses a blender pen and dips the tips into the chalk color. I tried it too, and love it!!! You just have to use a light touch. I stamped the image with a chalk ink pad before coloring it, and it didn't smear at all. Just wondered if anyone else colored their images with chalks.

I have but it's been a while, I do often use it for the shadow around the image and I also use it with the blender pen.

I love using chalk! It works great for coloring in images with blender pens, as you mentioned, and I love using it for coloring on stamped tiles. For something different, I like using the chalkboard technique on black cardstock or using chalk with Versamark. Chalks are very versatile!

I've tried it a few times with an aqua-blender, just for fun. I usually find watercolours easier and they give a similar result, but maybe using a blender pen would give me a different look...hmm. Thanks for that idea.

I have chalks but haven't used them for years. I do agree using the blender pen makes it easy and I think I'll have to get them out again now that you mention it. Thanks for posting.

I love using chalks to color. I use both a blender pen and just plain chalk on an applicator. Chalk gives a smooth look that can be blended and erased if necessary - and in my case, I need that erasability!

I so...but I have to admit, once I got my Copics, I've sort of neglected this technique.

If you color with chalk does it have to be sprayed with a fixitive to set it? Never did it although I have them.

I bought some about a year ago, but I think I have a gremlin in my house who makes things disappear sometimes, because the disappeared before I had a chance to use them. I was looking at them again on Sunday, but didn't buy them because I was also wondering if they need a fixative.

I do have a small set of cream chalks called Pebbles. I use them for shading on my Nestabilities cut outs. The cream ones are okay, but I would rather try buying the chalks again to see if they blend better.

I've never sprayed my cards that were colored with chalks, and to my knowledge, they're all still fine. They don't rub off that easily.

I love to color with chalks too, especially using the Pearlescent chalks. However, I do spray a little hairspray mist (any brand will do) as it definitively seals the colors yet it doesn't change them at all. Chalk coloring is definitively a fun techinique. I also love my Stampin Up chalks as well as the non-smears chalks from the Stencil Collection company. All these are amazing products!

Love this thread -- it has reminded me that I haven't used my chalks for awhile and that I need to get them out.

I use my chalks from the Stencil Collection company. I use a q-tip and color away. I think it is an easy way to color and the great thing about this particular chalk is that they are non-smear and so there is no need to spray them with a fixative. I also like the fact that you can erase a small goof and no one will be the wiser. I have other brands of chalk and pastels but always seem to go to my box of Stencil Collection chalks. Love them!!

I put away my old chalks for a while but when I got a new full set to get all the new SU! colors, I fell in love again. Quick, easy to blend, erasable. What more could you ask for?
