Altered Canvas---What adhesive?

I've been thinking of doing an altered canvas project. I was wondering what you use to adhere papers and pictures to the canvas?

I did a project at a Creating Keepsakes convention with a company called Quick Quotes. We altered a canvas project and they recommended Beakins 3 in 1 glue. It was awsome and I use it all the time now when I alter canvas items. hope this helps

I've used gesso several times and it worked well too.

I've even used just a glue stick that has still stuck.. and glue dots for pop ups!
