Has anyone been to An Affair of the Heart show? It is a "unique marketplace" of arts and crafts. They will be in Oklahoma soon and was wondering if I should try to drive to Tulsa from Kansas City. They claim to have over 800 booths? An Affair of the Heart
Yes! I've been lots of times to the one in Tulsa. I haven't been to the one in OKC and I've heard it's different. The one in Tulsa is HUGE. It's at the fair grounds and there's a large crowd every time. It's not craft supplies, it's more home decor and jewelry. There's a few food mixes, too. I enjoy going as there tends to be something new each time.
I live in Oklahoma City and have attended the Affair of the Heart many times over the years and enjoyed it. It is a 3-day affair here, and you can go multiple times.
It has changed through the years, though, in my opinion. It really used to be a marketplace for lots of handmade items. You could find some really unique things.
The last time I went was a couple of years ago, and I was disappointed. There are more and more "storefront" type booths from all over the country. It has gotten very commercial, and the handmade things are in the minority.
I remember long lines at a booth that manufactured velour bunny rabbits. They were cute, but machine made, with monogrammed ears. You had to place an order and they sent them to you.

Hi Bugga!! {waving} You're one of my favorite SCSers because I ran into you in real life, do you remember???
Those bunnies sound cute, but the one is Tulsa is very commercial, too. I've not lived in Oklahoma that long, but the original handmade sounds really cute. There's other handmade craft shows (like Alliday) that sound good, too. I haven't been, but I'm hoping to this year!

Hi right back, Megan. Of course I remember you! We talked and talked in Michaels by Quail Springs. (I still look for you there every time I'm in the store, lol.)

Lol! That was so much fun for me! It's so hard to explain stamping to my friends and you were someone who got it without any explanation at all!
I don't frequent OKC like I used to. We used to live in Ponca and I'd divide my "city time" between Wichita, OKC, and Tulsa. Now we live really close to Tulsa so I don't make my way over there very often!
I have never been to Affair of the Heart. I thought you all were talking about a soap opera. I had to take a peek. Now, I am jealous and want to go. I am close by to the show so I will have to go sometime.
Deborah I just wanted to say that is a drive from Tulsa to Wichita, lol. I have done that drive. You have my admiration.
Bugga- I just noticed your quote. I really love it.
Linda- Thank you for bringing up Affair of the Heart. I am always looking for good craft shows.
