I have used SU! dot roller adhesive and other similar products from Walmart and Hobby Lobby. But a few months later, they no longer hold together. I have pages just falling apart. I am needing some help finding new adhesive. Elmers just isn't cutting it. What should I look for?
I use Tombo Mono Multi Glue in the green and white bottle. I use it for just about everything in card making. It works great and your cards won't come apart!!
HTH
I use the ADTECH tape runner from Walmart or Michaels - (refills are cheaper at Walmart)
I have NEVER had a card fall apart on me. 90% of the time you will not get that apart either if you need to.
I use to use tombo and everything fell apart after a few months.
Tombo multi glue or Zip Dry glue is also good. I use these for certain things and my ADTECH runners for the majority of things.
I would say go for an "atg" gun. I get all of mine (13 of my card club gals) got it from thetapedepot for $25.00 shipping is free over $50.00.....have to get the tape in packs of at least 12 and i think it is like $24? there is 36 yards of tape on a roll, and once you stick it down, you have about 3 seconds to get it up, then it is stuck for good...i will never go back to tape runners, etc.
I never had any luck with the roller adhesives. My go to tape is good old scotch double stick tape, which you can get in individual dispensers or with your ATG gun.
I love the Tombow Mono dry adhesive runner (blue & clear). But, you need to make sure your pieces are right where you want them because it's a bear to pull apart without ruining the bottom layer.
I've heard great things about the ATG but the price scares me off every time.
If you stamp a lot, definitely go for the ATG. It's a chunk of change up front but WAY, WAY cheaper in the long run. Hands down one of the best stamping purchases I've made.

Hi, question about the ATG. Can you just use the tape without the dispenser or is it too much trouble? I ask because I'm shopping for new tape for 3 people because we are constantly running out of tape and I definitely can't afford to buy 3 dispensers but the yardage you get with the ATG tape is quite a deal. Thanks
Fairdragon you DO NOT have to have the ATG gun to use the tape! I have the ATG and hate to load the tape on it. I hate it so bad my first roll is still on the gun and I just use the rolls of tape and cut off the amount I need with scizzors. It works just remember ever so often to clean your scizzors!

Oh, thanks so much, I have been wanting to order the tape for a while but wasn't sure if I should. MY mom keeps yelling over the sea "Send me my tape"
now I can send her lots.
Again, thanks for responding so quickly. I'm off to order my tape....Yay. :-D
I have a question about the Tombo Mono Multi Glue in the green and white bottle. Since I heard so many rave about it, I bought it. But I don't like using it because it is so sticky and hard to get off my fingers. Anyone else have this problem? LM :-)

I checked out the ATG gun. It looks large and awkward. It it easier to use than it looks?

I swear by Mono Multi and have never had this problem (and I consider myself a fairly messy creator :p ) I use the smaller end 99% of the time, and just run a line of adhesive along the edge of my paper, approx 1/4" in from the edge. Plunk the layers together, adjust as necessary (which is one reason that I much prefer MM over dry adhesives - I have a bit of working time to straighten, etc.) and it's STUCK. If I end up with any "oozage" then I just rub it off with a white eraser. HTH!
I didn't care for the ATG... I have really small hands and it was ackward to use and I always had trouble loading the tape.
I use the Glue Glider, Zip Dry glue, and Tombow Mono Multi (green bottle). My biggest fear to to make a card for someone and when they open the envelope to have prices fall off (ACK!!!) so these are all I use.
I have tried the AdTech from WalMart and it worked great but the dispensers dont hold much tape and I was going through them like candy!

I had the same problem when I started using the Tombow Mono Multi glue, you just need practice. Put down your glue line about 1/8" from the paper's edge and use the glue very sparingly. Stampin' Up (and other places) sells an adhesive eraser; use it on your hands to get the glue off. One bottle of this glue goes a long, long way.
I don't like most of the dry adhesives either. I was on the hunt a while ago because some of my scrapbook pages fell apart that I used the tombow dry adhesive on. I've tried the ATG but with carpal tunnel I can't use the gun, but I may see if I can find a roll of the tape and try it without the gun. I've been using scor tape and terrifically tacky for dry adhesives. I also use Zip Dry, Sobo & Weldbond glue when I use wet glues.
Have a question about the Tombow Mono Multi Glue. Most wet glues I've used (like elmers & tacky glue) tend to warp the paper, no matter how sparingly I've used them. Is the Tombow better? :???:

I've not had any problems with warpage, and I've been using MM exclusively for about 3 years now - you need so very little that I guess the "wetness" doesn't become an issue. As I mentioned earlier, just run a very small line along the edges of your panel.
I used to use the Adtech tape runner from Walmart for everything, until the rehearsal dinner invitations I made for my brother-in-law's wedding fell apart. My Mother-in-law sent them on a rainy day and the one she sent to me and to my sister-in-law both had 2 of the layers fall apart. I don't know if it was the humidity or what, but I live in Houston so I had to find something else. I tried the glue glider and liked it, but it was just too expensive for me to keep using, so I switched to the ATG and LOVE it. I bought the gun and 4 rolls of tape on ebay and it has been worth every penny.
Beverly...Thanks for letting me know I am not the only on with this problem, and thanks for the Tips. :-) LM

Another vote for Tombow Mono! I keep a wet baby wipe at my stamping area when I stamp for my stamps. If I happen to get glue on my fingers, I just immediately wipe away.
Like others, I use a tiny line of glue about 1/4" from the edge and a dab in the middle. I like that you have several seconds to "adjust" the panels to make them straight before it dries. A must for me!!
I use a 3M ATG from www.framingsupplies.com, and as a matter of fact, just ordered some adhesive refills. It's easy and works great.
One of my sisters puts all of the cards I send to her and my BIL on a shelf, exposed to heat and humidity, and the ones with the SU SNAIL adhesive are falling apart. Those made with the ATG are not.
For 3D projects or harder to hold spots, like adhering to an embossed area, I'll use Scor-Tape.
Love my ATG gun! The best money I have spent and if you use alot of adhesive it pays fior itself quickly! I have even converted my Mom, SIL, and several other stamping friends to it! Nothing will come apart.....not a thing, and you don't have to use alot of the tape either.
I agree with the ATG suggestions. I have small hands (8" from tip of thumb to tip of pinky) and don't have a problem using my ATG. I suggest the 3M 714 - had the generic one from The Tape Depot and had nothing but problems even with the wonderful assistance from their customer service personnel I had one of the 714s that was defective so bought the generic one to use until 3M was able to fix the problem. Gave the generic ATG to a friend who loves it - never could figure out what I was doing wrong. I make mostly cards and other projects but do scrapbook after trips so only use the 1/4" tape. (If I need a wider sticky area, just swipe twice.) My sister, daughter and friends that if give cards and other projects to (treat boxes, etc.) have told me that they save everything and no one has said anything has come undone.
Hope you find a solution to your adhesive problem.
